Yes, I have noticed that trend also. I think they're busy nesting and looking after young. A few years ago they brought one of their young to our feeder late summer/early fall and fed it some jelly. 🥰

It's been over a month since an Oriole has been at my feeder! Today was the first female Oriole I've seen this season. Hopefully more of the family will stop by. The House Finches and Sparrows have enjoyed more grape jelly than Orioles this season. #birds , #backyardbirds , #urbanbirding , #joy

Our soil is kinda sandy and not overly wet, although we've had a lot of rain this summer which has made it happy. I have it planted in a shady spot near the eavestrough and so it is the most moist spot of the garden. They're pretty hearty so I'm sure yours will thrive. 🥰
