I would take it one step further…I would only be shocked if a researcher came forward and said, “I reviewed the code of every network appliance sold by a company - say, Netgear or Cisco or F5 - and found ZERO hardcoded credentials or secrets.” The CVE databases are littered with examples. 🦖

Are there any experts in CAN-SPAM in the house? Does unsolicited email whose unsubscribe link requires login, password reset, MFA registration (if not already done), and by then it’s forgotten you were trying to unsubscribe…does that unsubscribe link limbo under the bar of obligations for email?

I think most cybersecurity professionals would be alarmed by how often telecom companies cover up breaches. One of my customers created fraudulent documents claiming a clean bill of health. Another customer closed every incident as a false positive unless it was a single specific file hash.
