‪My guesstimation as to why ⬇️‬

October 2, 2026
Today in Tokyo, the United States and Japan signed a protocol that extends and amends the U.S.-Japan Agreement on Cooperation in Research and Development in Science and Technology, also known as the U.S.-Japan Science and Technology Agreement. Assistant to the President and Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy Michael Kratsios signed for the United States and Minister for Foreign Affairs Motegi Toshimitsu signed for Japan.
First signed in 1988, the Science and Technology Agreement provides a legally binding framework for scientific cooperation between the U.S. and Japanese governments. Under this framework, the United States and Japan have built countless links between their scientific communities.
The protocol extends the Agreement indefinitely, a sign of the deep trust and respect between the U.S. and Japanese governments. The extended and amended Agreement positions both countries to sustain and strengthen their cooperation, with a focus on critical and emerging technologies that improve the lives of both peoples.
The indefinite extension reaffirms the long-term U.S. and Japanese commitment to close partnership on science and technology, while advancing a secure, trusted innovation ecosystem that benefits both nations.

Good evening,
October opened with questions about who gets a seat in discussions on NATO's future, new sanctions against Russia and Iran, and continued pressure on household costs. Russian drones struck a school and a key bridge in Kyiv. In the United States, new immigration-related health coverage restrictions took effect, while ICE tightened its rules for vehicle stops.

Not my typical thing to post - but this is making rounds for whatever reason. One of Musk’s baby mothers shared some goodbye letter to him after he unfollowed her, which apparently means a breakup in the universe. Anyway. If you fancy, here it is.

It's hard to go from in love to let go in a week with no warning, but that's just how it is sometimes
I feel happy that I got to show Elon how it feels to be deeply understood, nurtured, and peacefully loved with stability and gentleness. Given the tumultuous nature of his early life, his often tortured soul, and how hard he fights for humanity I wanted him to feel the deepest and most stable form of love this world can provide.
My heart is full knowing I got to do that, and I hope it leaves a lasting good effect.
We were always his safe space. A place where all of us were overjoyed to see him and one that was always full of happiness and love, not war, in contrast to his otherwise militant existence (a needed break from the battlefield where he could recharge his heart and soul before heading back out)
I loved being that counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love — and delighted in bringing a smile back to his face when he was down. I will miss him dearly.

loved being that counterbalancing place of safety, sense of calm, and love — and delighted in bringing a smile back to his face when he was down. I will miss him dearly.
I've loved him more than life itself and he's taught me 100 lifetimes of knowledge and made my cup overflow with life meaning, so there is a lot of loss, but luckily we created four beautiful little loves of my life VO I am so beyond grateful for our children and they make every single day the best day of my life! I do hope and pray he and I can be great friends and coparents.
I'm hurting, but care deeply about E and will always be cheering for his happiness. God speed, Elon, the world is lucky to have you.

Durban was meant to confront racism. Its 2001 conference became mired in antisemitism and disputes over Israel, prompting a U.S.–Israeli walkout. Waltz says 48 countries skipped its 25th anniversary. The final UN declaration itself explicitly condemned antisemitism.

48 UN Member States refused to participate in the UN’s shameful High-Level Meeting commemorating the 25th anniversary of the notorious anti-Western, antisemitic Durban Conference – nearly a quarter of the UN.

This was a significant increase from 38 countries boycotting in 2021. We thank all Member States who joined the United States in rejecting Durban’s poisonous legacy.

Taken from last night’s ONEST The Daily brief

Zelenskyy also said Ukrainian intelligence had identified more than 8,000 North Korean troops currently on Russian territory, with another 10,000 being selected for training and possible deployment.
According to him, Russia has helped establish production of Shahed-type attack drones in North Korea.
Why it matters
The Russia-North Korea relationship is increasingly a two-way military exchange. If Kyiv's account is accurate, Pyongyang is receiving technology it can use beyond the war in Ukraine, while Moscow gains personnel and another source of drone production.
Today's attack also sharpens Ukraine's immediate air defense problem. Zelenskyy put the day's overall drone interception rate at 70%, but said the rate against jet-powered drones was just 57%. As winter approaches, European foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas is calling on countries with Patriot interceptors in their stocks to provide them to Ukraine.

It’ll be difficult to find something more.. “less than smart” than this WH Accord on “self regulating super intelligence”.

White House Accord on Super Intelligence
Joint Commitment on Frontier Responsibilities
In order to build a positive future for the American people and the world, we believe every company is responsible for developing its own technology safely and in a way that builds trust with customers and the public.
This starts with every company that is training and deploying frontier models having robust internal processes and controls to ensure that their technology behaves as intended and that any issues are promptly identified and resolved. Therefore, in addition to any other precautions, we believe each company should implement the following four layers of controls and audits:
(1) Implement robust internal controls to monitor the capabilities and alignment of its models during training and deployment around areas like cybersecurity, biosecurity, and chemical threats, and to ensure that its models do not hack or access technical systems in unintended ways.
2) Empower an internal team to ensure all of the controls, monitoring, and detection are operating as intended, and that any issues are remediated.
(3) Partner with an independent external auditor or evaluator to carry out independent assessments of whether the controls, monitoring, and detection are operating as intended.
(4) Designate an independent committee of the board of directors to oversee and receive reports from the teams operating the controls and the intemal and external auditors and evaluators, as well as to ensure any issues identified are remediated.
Together, these steps will give each company, its customers, and the public confidence that the technology is operating as intended.
The participating companies will meet regularly to establish standards and best practices to improve the safety of their systems.
Over time, it may make sense to codify these steps into laws or regulations. Regardless of whether this is required of companies, we believe that implementing these controls and audits is critical to en…
