If you like that style I’ve found Karn Silver Golem to be a very nice commander. Several things in the deck tend to be accidental 4/5 card combos when you aren’t focused on the 2-3 card ones that you can elect not to run if your playgroup doesn’t appreciate that

This is the problem imo. The RC has no power over matches except to set a baseline expectation. If you want to play with a custom ban list you’re absolutely able to through rule 0. But when rule zero is inconsistent or miscommunicated the RC must step in.
