haha yeah that too, we used to have to learn about the computer just to make it do the things we wanted, there's none of that friction anymore

the true fiends still exist but the interview process also selects them out a lot of the time. all the best colleagues I've had have been people who would be doing this for free in their spare time if it wasn't an actual job

it used to be when you hired young coders you were getting people who had been glued to their computers since childhood with an obsession for tinkering and figuring things out. now you're getting people whose parents talked them into CS because it's good money.
