Vinyl buying gig-goer and covers-band drummer. I'm waiting to look through that box of records so hurry up, if you wouldn't mind.

I'll be delighted to be involved again this year and you'll be truly missed in the future. I always really look forward to #vinylsanta and the work you've done on this is very much appreciated ❤️

I'm discussing music elsewhere on Bluesky, but I also want you to know that today I replaced the tap on our kitchen sink which involved taking all sorts apart under the sink and putting it all back together again. It's not leaking or anything. I feel like an actual grown up now.

I considered getting a portable CD player and a Bluetooth thing but figured that it would be more trouble than I could deal with at 6.30 on a cold morning so I didn't bother.

It does that. You don't really like it until BAM it's one of your all time favorites.

I miss having a CD player in the car. It's not exactly a lot of hassle to get a CD onto the USB stick or to stream it, but it's not quite the same as grabbing a CD on the way out of the house.

For me, the car is the place that I do this most. I make a point of listening to at least one album at least twice every week.

This is exactly it. It's to do with the value we place on it. That was worth a good few pints of Black Sheep. There was no way I wasn't getting my 7 pints out of this CD. Now that most music is essentially free (or costs relatively less) we're not as invested.

In case you were wondering... £12.99 was a lot of money in 99. I bought it on the strength of the single version of Waiting for a Superman (which is on the CD as a bonus track). I wasn't going to be getting another CD any time soon, so I was determined to like it. It worked.

I totally agree. Music certainly doesn't get the attention that it did. Spending time to really get to know an album can be rare these days. One of my favorite albums I bought on CD when I was skint and didn't like at first. I listened to it repeatedly until it made sense. Not sure I'd do that now.

We lived a short walk from Lark Lane from 2001 until 2014 and used to go in a lot. It's had a lick of paint in recent years but looks just the same apart from that. I'm going to make a point of popping in next time I can.

I haven't been to Keith's in years. I bet they do. That place never changes.

I bought this when I was 12. I didn't really know what to make of it and so I didn't really spend much time with it. It survived a few culls of the collection and I'm pretty glad about that. What a record.

A couple of examples here

Seriously though, I agree. I really like a live album. Even those dodgy bootleg tapes with the luminous photocopied card sleeves from the 90s.

I didn't love like albums.

I haven't listened to this in such a long time but I read the feature in Mojo last night and decided to return to it. Such a good album.

Lots of Del Amitri #weekendsingles here. I'm going to see them again next month so I thought I'd dig these out.

#BandcampFriday Released back in June, Dream States is the sound of a piano dreaming, of synths in REM sleep! An ambient and electronic soundscape across 88 keys! I think its rather lovely. I still have CDs available. Support grass roots artists! audioobscura.bandcamp.com/album/dream-...

Other tapes are fine. The B side on this one actually still works!

Matt @omatt.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
Yeah. That's properly knackered. Past the point of no return knackered. How has that happened?! It was fine last time I played it.

Matt @omatt.bsky.social · 27/09/2026
As is turns out, I'm not. It's knackered. How did that happen? I've tried the old wind and rewind trick. Still not working. All wobbly and no treble. Glad I made an MP3 of the B side when I got it as that's not available anywhere else.

Yeah. I had the bag. No idea where that went but the protection CD in the picture came in the bag, I think. The big cardboard sleeve is empty. I lost that CD after I took it to Galaxy 105 to play it on a Saturday afternoon show I was covering. I had both, lost one.

Matt @omatt.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
I know of that but I've never actually listened to it. It's on the list!

Matt @omatt.bsky.social · 19/09/2026
For me, that was a real grower. Not an album that's immediately striking but that lives in your head and rewards repeated listens. In fact, that's on the list to return to now.

If I'm posting Massive Attack #weekendsingles then maybe I should post this as well

I thought I should unbox that Bug Powder Dust I posted in my #weekendsingles. That Dust Brothers remix is early Chemical Brothers, and very good it is too.
