Saw this bad boy for like $10 at Michael's and I had to have it. Out here patting it's head every time I pass by it like college football players do when they enter a stadium 😂

The WNBA is filled with dynamic players. With that talent advancement comes a need to showcase, to create more moments. In my latest, I discuss the playoff format impasse the league has, and why an expansion of series length will help this next generation of stars build & construct their mythology.

New podcast episode! Recently, leagues & their players associations have sounded the alarm on sports bettors harassing players. I discuss their statement, why it's mostly PR spin, and the complexities that come with a crisis rooted in the greed of the leagues. open.spotify.com/episode/6q1U...

Stephen Jackson and Jason Sudeikis recently resurfaced the idea of lowering the rims in the WNBA to allow for more in-game dunks. In my latest essay on Deep Cover I discuss why that's a bad idea and the messaging that comes along with these sorts of statements. Full story below 👇

This Eagles team will forever vex me. Just when I think I have a handle on them as a team, they appear to be something else completely. Fascinating and frustrating team!

I have a work event this week that will take up most of my week. And as a result with all these meetings and ge together I'm gonna miss a bunch of WNBA playoff games. NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT

This Valkyries offense is a machine. 55% from the field, 50% from three. Just executing on an elite level so far.

Been super impressed with this first half by the Mystics. Super young team, Kiki Iriafen in early foul trouble. But they keep playing their game, and are leading against Atlanta on the road. They're ready for the moment.

If the Fever have any chance of competing in this series, they need their backcourt duo of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell to be elite shot makers. That just didn't happen today.

121

Omar Zahran @omarzahran.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Some context for A'ja Wilson's performance today. Wilson shot 78.9% from the field today, which is the most efficient by a player that scored more than 35 points and attempted more than 15 field goals in a playoff game.

Omar Zahran @omarzahran.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

It's been a topsy turvy season for the Liberty with a lot of discussion about coaching and wasted potential. But here they are, stealing a game in Minnesotsa thanks to a Breanna Stewart masterclass and are in great position to shake up the playoff bracket. Great performance from New York today.

Nia Brodie has been huge for Minnesota this half. 4/4 from three and just making a huge impact offensively. Keeping them afloat as the rest of the team has struggled shooting throughout this game so far. Those types of bursts are what make the playoffs so much fun.

Player-led podcasts were supposed to be the antidote to traditional sports media. Instead, many of them feel sadly familiar. My latest essay on Deep Cover is about player podcasts, our obsession with reality, and what gets lost when lived experience becomes the only form of credibility we value.

Sometimes when writing, I find myself filled with doubt. It's something that has diminished, but it creeps up every now and then. Tonight was one of those nights where as I'm progressing through a piece I wonder "is anyone actually ever going to take me seriously". I really hate when this happens.

Someone commented on one of my podcast clips on YT and said that using the term "ally" is a "manipulative thing to say". That sort of comment is why I generally don't engage with clip comments, I'm a firm believer in not giving a bad faith comment oxygen. Not sure if that's the right approach.

Something that the Seahawks have been really good at the last couple of years is executing long, clock draining, closeout drives. They did it again to ice this game. Taking over 8 minutes, running it up the gut over and over again. Such an underrated thing that not many teams are able to do.

Since 1980, there have been 30 teams that have scored 56 points or more in a regular season NFL game that had a game the following week. Of those 30 teams, 19 had a point total drop-off of at least 30 points in the following week.

I hate injuries so much. Chicago fans finally have an offense, coach, and QB that seems so set for continued success and then Caleb Williams is hurt. I really hope it's not serious, but man the way he went down and the look on his face make me think it will be serious. Such a bummer.

A while ago I theorized that the Pistons in the midst of the Duren negotiations, would have to choose between Duren and Ausar Thompson because of the spacing issue. And it sure seems like Ausar is gonna win that battle of preference now that they signed him to a five year extension.
