There are some newer things like OSC and DAW specific controllers that have native integration, but for the most part everything modern can still do plain ol' midi same as ever.

Those should work automatically as long as the controller and plugin are both on the right channel. You would make a patch on the midi device itself assigning those cc numbers to the controls you want, rather than binding the controls in your DAW
