Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 4hMy only real problem with the album is it doesn't really invoke "fighting game". Ultimately, I blame the children for not knowing what jazz is until persona 5 invented it. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 4h"gonna take you for a ride" I think is a vocal tic that every gamer gains upon first playthrough. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 4hListening to the album, yeah I certainly wouldn't call it a 10/10 soundtrack. But placing in a worst list is just disingenuous imo. Yes it has a few oddball tracks like the Training Stage with it's weird, bloopy, not quite jazz, not quite Calypso style; but it also has some serious bangers. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 4hTo my surprise, multiple SEO exploitive, capital G gamer websites all had MvC2 on there. I found that to be extremely surprising. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 4hThoughts while listening: I had not found an album that I would mark as a 1 star soundtrack yet so I turned to the Internet for "great games with bad soundtracks". I could have obviously picked any low budget shovelware game, but that didn't seem like it for the spirit of what I was going for. 100

Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 07/10/2026It was an easy choice for Aquatic Ambiance as the best song. There's no other option in my mind. Gang Plank Galleon is a very close second and given the day I could swap them. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 07/10/2026A decent chunk of the album loses me through the middle and near the end. I'm not sure I can accurately explain my thoughts. The music starts becoming very mechanical and just uninteresting to me. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Similar to my thoughts with Castlevania, I feel like when I hear any song from DKC, I'd much rather just listen to a fan remake or remix instead. That isn't to dismiss the great work David Wise and his team did. I just think other people have taken the bones they set and placed them in a better body 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 07/10/2026Thoughts while listening: This is probably my first real controversial take. When I was looking over my original chart from years ago I had DKC fairly low. Having listened to it again here I surprisingly agree with myself. 100

Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 30/09/2026As a small aside, the in-between chapters song might be my favorite video game jingle. youtu.be/yQpyHftAF5U?...youtu.bePhoenix Wright Ace Attorney OST - Jingle ~ It Can't End HereYouTube video by Gyakuten Saiban Sound Box 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 30/09/2026The only other track I considered was the theme to the detention center. It's very melancholy and sad and works really well. But you have to pass through the detention center constantly to get to other locations with more fun songs. It's always a weird shift jumping through it like that. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I had to really think hard about what I'd consider the worst song on the album, until I got to the blue badger theme. If it was just a quick little jingle I probably wouldn't have given it any thought but for some reason it's almost 90 seconds long. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I knew going in that the best track was either going to be Maya's theme or the Pursuit theme. When I think of Ace Attorney those two songs are the first things that come to mind, even before the game events. 100
Mari H. Stien @olmari.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Thoughts while listening: I don't know how I always forget just how good the Ace Attorney soundtracks are. Straight down the line, even the lesser games have OSTs that just slap. For me specifically, visual novels have never been the most appealing. This OST gets me to replay every few years. 100
