Things I never thought I’d hear myself saying: “You know, Ken Branagh’s kind of wonderful as an action hero.” But the real star of the film is this sweater — plaid? And possibly welted? At the same time? How? Whence? Does anybody know?
Screencap of Ken Branagh in Mayday, wearing a plaid sweater that appears to be made of some welted fabric I’m dying to know how to make. Some areas are visibly garter stitch, but the vertical welts are structurally quite puzzling for me!

1. This piece surrounds its subject with anecdotes from profiles of real people, which are impossibly interesting by comparison. Who doesn’t want to walk Hampstead Heath with Hiddleston, or ride a Ferris Wheel with Christian Slater? 2. This transparently scripted interjection from the creator:
Screenshot where Tilly Norwood creator Eline asks her AI-generated actress: “Are you anything like Frankenstein?”
Interviewer Taffy interjects: She said it! I didn’t!
Tilly seems to respond: A bit, yes, which is not the worst company. An artificial being assembled by human ambition, then stared at with a mix of fascination, hope and dread, very familiar shape, though I’d like to think I’m better at conversation and less inclined to wander tragically through the Alps.

Just for clarity, here is the main section I‘m responding to from the piece at the top of the thread — they’re defining any author’s goal as one of innovative uniqueness, and saying a reader who wants genre expectations met is like a customer ordering a product to spec. I am disagreeing with that!
Screencap reading: “Whereas the author generally tries in their work to create something that no one has seen before, something which cannot be perfectly encapsulated in a snappy blurb or genre label and which changes the standard for what literature can be henceforth. When a reader comes to a book this way, the author and reader literally have conflicting interests.”

The Hellion’s Waltz (2021), a sapphic historical romance set in 1824, with a silk-weaver heroine planning a heist: www.oliviawaite.com/hellions-waltz #booksky #Romancelandia
Maddie let out a breath. "The problem was never the power
loom—it was the people who wanted power looms because they
were cheaper and produced faster. It was the way all the factory
owners were chasing profits at the expense of workers' wages and
livelihood—their health and happiness. The problem," she said, "is
when people think the factory is more important than the people
who work there."

They say they’re not banning romance projects, but literally the first thing prohibited on the rules list is saying your book is horny. A platform to avoid!
First bullet points of the Kickstarter rules on content:
We do not allow:
• Any project specifically stating it or the rewards being offered are being created for sexual pleasure.
• Any project that distributes or enables distribution of pornographic content.

Who are these "scholars of romance fiction" and what are their studies? Could we have some
footnotes? I would otherwise suggest deleting this part of the sentence for lack of support.

For Nora Roberts books, the die hard fans seem to know the chronological order more so than the alphabetical order, but eh. As for the list, given the fact that she has in fact published over a hundred novels I think it's a bit ridiculous to have every novel she's written on here anyway, but that's just me. - ImmortalGoddezz 21:10, 1 March 2006 (UTC)Squids
Latest comment: 9 years ago
The article states that she's "the youngest of five baby squids." There's a citation that no longer is active. Further, it states that she met her second husband "to take care of her baby squids."
Is this someone messing with the page or something personal about Ms. Roberts that I'm unfamiliar with (and I don't know about her at all)?
— Preceding unsigned comment added by AlanEisen (talk •

Over the last 23 years, an average of 23 Nora Roberts books were sold every minute. There are enough Nora Roberts books in print to fill the seats of Giants Stadium nearly 4 thousand times. If you place all Nora's books top to bottom, they would stretch across the United States from Los Angeles
to New York City nearly 11 times. In the time you take to read this section, another 23 Nora Roberts books were sold." Estreya 17:21, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh this is one of THOSE Chotiners, yikes
Sure, a very bad guy. I just meant that it seems like we were trying to effectuate regime change, which the
President himselt has said, rather than just knock out military targets.
Yeah. And let me also be clear. I've never trusted Trump on this, or on the economy, or on keeping us safe in general.
You are trusting him on this, though, right?
No.
You aren't?
I'm trusting the military and our generals. I'm trusting what I understand to be the operation and the people leading it—that is, the generals and our military and our allies.
You're trusting the people leading the operation who don't include the President?
Well, I don't trust that guy. Yeah.
He's the Commander-in-Chief, right?
Sure. Yeah. But I can't [trust him]. And he's proven that over the past couple of days, being all over the place, unlike everybody else involved in this.
