Some of the pumpkin I processed this weekend just went in the oven (Whole Wheat/Bran Pumpkin Muffins). 13 & I made boxed brownies earlier b/c we picked up Spumoni Ice Cream (a specialty item) at the store. Pumpkin Bran Muffin for Breakfast/Brownie & Spumoni Sundaes for Dessert. Balance y'all.

had every intention of making a psuedo-callaloo, but couldn't motivate myself to deal with the pumpkin for a few days. Today I'm roasting it, and it's seeds. 15 wants me to save the guts for crows or birds. 🤷‍♀️ that's fine. pie, bread, butter, cake, soup... what do you do with pumpkin?

Made a homemade lemon meringue pie for hubby's bday on Sat. Terrible. Good flavor.. but it broke, separated, weeped, & the cat ate about 1/6 of the meringue. The boxed cupcakes 15 made yesterday were delicious and perfect. Balance, y'all. 🤣🤪🙄

Pony was a book club pick, which I hated. UNTIL fellow reader ptd out it's an Oydessy retelling. which gave me some appreciation for it. but still hated it. The Vonnegut was an accident. I wanted F 451. so I DNF'd this one ~60 pgs. unlikely to try again. bad month for me w/ books #booksky

Getting the swing of our new life is still beating me up. The day is broken. There'd be enough time before my big girl leaves for PS to do the homeschool work if 13 could try a higher gear. 15 is doing really well in school so far. She is learning, though, about turning assignments in on time. 😬 💚

Two very quick reads. Shippers was fun. A little silly, but sweet... As one would expect from Center. The Open Era was phenomenal. A freshman effort, it was a well written, kind of suspenseful slow burn romance. AND I LOVED IT! I am absolutely ready to read Edward Schmit's next book! #booksky

Pony was a (mystery) book club choice. not my style. took a long time because I hated it so much. Same w/ Space. When I realized I'd been trying not to read it for 2 wks, I DNF at about 80%. Not often that i HATE books, let alone 2 at the same time. I hope you like them better. #booksky

The first week of school went fairly well. Kiddo (15) & I will get better at balancing time b/twn homeschool & her 2 PS classes (Art, Biology) Our history this year is going to be a challenge, Middle Ages 🥱. Plus, she is in the transition phase between Logic and Rhetoric here at home.

2 Fast reads! Idaho read like a novel, and after watching the Netflix was easy to follow, audio has more chapters though. Starter was another Scalzi (whose writing I adore), so fun & silly. as always, listened b/c of the narrator who is perfectly sarcastic and wry. #booksky

Summer I read for the Goodreads challenge, lots of smut. nice little romance. interesting characters. decent writing. I enjoyed it. Park was good. I appreciated the changes between novel/movie made sense and didn't detract from the story. it was long, but worth it. #booksky

I got really into soccer during the World Cup. I watched 78 games! Have never enjoyed team sports before, most are either too boring or too violent. Soccer seems a nice answer to that. Now I'm looking for games all the time. 🫣 & also wondering why aren't there more smutty soccer romance novels.

Dogs, a required reading selection for our homeschool. Written in verse, not my style, but a meaningful book/story. Green's book was a re-read, for bookclub. More meaningful now that I have latent TB. Bimbo was fun, a litlle mindfuck-y, but also nice & short. Tiny print though. #booksky

Didn't expect a rom-com from Fire, title makes it seem deeper, but it was sweet & fun. Hangman is first in a new-to-me mystery series, enjoyed it very mucht. Listened to Curry (@1.3sp). It's typical memoir stuff, but in his inimitable voice. Even post-stroke his voice is elegant. #booksky

I hated the L'Engle. I know it's a classic. I've read it & that's enough. Not a sci-fi fan. Chip's book was a sweet, quick read. I wish I said "Yes." more often. I'm not the sort. I want to read more of his stuff. Continuing Dugoni's series (& closing in on the end of the published ones). #booksky

Started reading Count of Monte Cristo and Lestat. Lestat was such a slog I needed a palate cleanser. So I threw Fey in for a couple days listen, it was the perfect choice: quick, funny, sarcastic. Once I finished Count, I read Cosby (book club pick) hard to read, but good. #booksky
