I think the primary value of impeachment before ‘28 is to force as many Republican Senators as possible to vote against conviction while Trump is committing what are sure to be an increasingly insane number of criminal acts as a lame duck.

I would bet a reasonable sum of money that he earnestly suggests calling it Trump Intelligence at some point.

Where will we forge many of our worst adult men if not in the cauldron of exclusionary societies designed to teach them that privilege can be purchased as long as they observe omertà?

This would be more forgivable if Zaslav didn’t already have to reverse the exact same decision two years ago. We are not ready for how stupid this gets.

Surrendering at least 50 years of sterling brand recognition to show everyone who’s really in charge. Masterful gambit sir

“Violence doesn’t happen in a vacuum” shouldn’t be a controversial take, but here we are.

Yeah, this. A lot of self-inflicted damage on the Dem brand here stemming from the Cuomo years and early Hochul term that will take a while to recover from.

I think it might shock guys like this to learn how many of their fellow Americans are now willing to let them perish somewhere away from the rest of us rather than waste a second convincing them not to die a preventable death.

To be clear, it deserves all the accolades it got for how it was shot, marketed, etc, but subsequent viewing does not replicate first effects. 10 Cloverfield Lane, however…

Also, the rewatch value of this movie is…quite low.

Startling to be reminded that TJ Miller is a main character in the initial Cloverfield film but is almost never on-screen throughout.

The most charitable view of Kagan and the collegiality take is that she either believes a) the Court is recoverable as current constituted and overseen or b) her actions are a meaningful bulwark against its worst ambitions and both are naive to the point of disqualification.

It’s a shitty institution and we should gut and replace it as soon as possible.

If the Roberts court has done anything, it has erased whatever remaining illusion that justices aren’t partisan operators or shouldn’t be treated as such. The Court delegitimized *itself*. The rest of us are just reacting to it.

Stop pretending SCOTUS justices are not politicians, and stop pretending like the law is an opaque thing only lawyers are allowed to talk about. Law is crafted and criticized by citizens. I don't need a JD to see that Kagan sucks

i'm not a "both parties are the same" person, that's obviously not true, but it is true that everyone in the federal government exercises class solidarity with each other to some degree, and for SCOTUS that degree is something in the neighborhood of 99%

Begging everyone to remember that we do not owe Republicans the most gracious possible interpretation of their deliberately inflammatory statements. The New York Times has that beat covered.

As a proud sedanite, the urge to buy a crossover/SUV wouldn’t be testosterone-driven inasmuch as I am tired of feeling unsafe on interstates next to these behemoths whose blinding LED headlights line up perfectly with my windshield and rear view mirror and whose drivers act like they own a tank.

If you can impeach Donald Trump once a month for the first six months of the 120th Congress you should do it for no other reason than to make clear that this could all be over at any time, except one party wants to keep the circus going.

The point of repeated impeachment in the House is to force Senate Republicans to repeatedly refuse to convict him in the two years leading up to a presidential election where several Republican primary candidates are likely to come from that same Senate.

We haven’t had a presidential race without at least one incumbent on either ticket since 2016 and both party’s primary fields are likely to be quite large. Enjoy what peace you can now because the political ad investment during this coming cycle is going to be obscene.
