I've been meaning to set aside the time to play it, I really liked Hollow Knight and have been craving it lately. You might have given me the push to actually get on with it!

I always quite liked the W203's styling but the length of the CLK nose on the C55 always balanced the visual weight a little better for me, especially in estate form like yours. M113 and 5G are a robust pairing and I always love the concept of a big engine in a fairly small car, maybe one day..

Definitely does become tiresome running an older high end car as a daily driver. Spent most of my childhood in the back of 10-15 year old heavily depreciated executive cars which gave me a taste for it, but owning my (admittedly quite shabby) 75 wasn't always much fun

I can imagine so. Very interesting to hear though, they're cars that have always taken my fancy. My dad used to have a W203 C320 which did have a couple of electrical gremlins, but I always figured the oily bits of that era of Merc would be pretty solid. Shame about the electronics and bodywork..

Yeah, it was a real bummer. it was my first car and I learned to drive in it, so it taught me a lot about vehicle dynamics and gave me a great baseline going forwards. I always wanted it to be a forever car, but it was just too badly damaged to safely repair..

That's quite the car history though. How was the C55? I've been thinking seriously about getting one in the next year or so, they seem like a brilliant all round package

I had it for 5 years and the rear arches had only just started to bubble! I washed the underside religiously and had it fully undersealed as soon as I got it though. In the end I wrecked it when I hit a patch of ice on a blind bend one night, lost the back end and it snapped back when I caught it 💔

Fully agreed, I happened to watch the Top Gear segment on the 8C recently and couldn't help but notice the shared design cues. I always loved the afterburner style taillights on them, being LED units has really helped them age gracefully too!
