Growing outrage at brutal murder of Ukrainian journalist - ABC listen
Evidence is emerging that a young Ukrainian journalist who died in Russian captivity last year, days before she was due to be exchanged in a prisoner swap, was tortured. Viktoriia Roshcyna, 27, had travelled to Zaporizhzhia in Russian-occupied Ukraine, to report on the treatment of Ukrainians in Russian detention, but disappeared in August 2023. Her mutilated body was among others returned to Ukrainian authorities in February.  *Warning, some details in this story are disturbing* Guest: Olga Tokariuk, Ukrainian journalist and a former colleague of Viktoriia Roshchyna  Producer: Anne Barker

It is chilling. Viktoria Roshchyna was the bravest of journalists, willing to risk torture & death to "remain faithful to our mission, to convey the truth to the world” about Russia's occupation. For those who wonder why Ukrainians fight, and even for those who know why, this is necessary reading. 👇
