Orangina has always been weirdly horny for furries.

The string of horrible furry media coverage in the early 2000s didn't exist in a vacuum. It was part of a massive post-9/11 push for jingoism and "normalcy" on TV. So everybody "different" or "marginal" would be portrayed as a villain or be made the target of mockery. Hence furry marginalization.

"The fursuit of happiness" was an article that appeared in the April 12, 2001 issue of the Montreal Mirror. It TRIED ("tried" being the key word here) to give a more balanced view of furries as a fandom. But inevitably circled back to obsessing over how we strange freaky people had sex.

I'm not going to post this kind of thing often, but... Pro tip : It's generally seen as horribly insensitive and trashy by polite society to name drop a recently deceased person to win points in a petty internet argument.

The Freezing Furs were a (now defunct) group that was founded in response to the Burned Furs. They believed (rightly so) that Burned Furs were a hate group seeking to rally support for a "cleansing" of the furry fandom by dehumanizing and discounting folks that had been part of it from the start.

Not vintage furry stuff, but likely relevant to people here: Oklahoma republicans are passing a bill that would make it illegal for children to "attend school as furries". Not only that, but a child could potentially be removed from school by ANIMAL CONTROL. All that because of LibsOfTiktok lies.

In the mid 2010s, Jagermeister ran a series of adverts using bizarrely horny-on-main furry imagery. (Don't ask me why the stag guy has a very visible and detailed bulge on an officially alcoholic beverage advert, I have no idea either)

Did you know? The original hotel for Furpocalypse was featured in an urbex video by The Proper People after it was closed and abandoned The amount of decay that happened after its closure is kind of impressive in such a short time (even if you consider how damaged it already was prior to closing)

"Fear of Commitment" is the 20th episode of season 7 of "ER". The episode featured fursuiters who landed in the ER. As typical for late 90s-early 2000s media representation, the two suiters are portrayed as socially-inept nerds and they go through pretty much ANY furry slang the writers came across

The Löwenmensch figurine, also called the Lion-man of Hohlenstein-Stadel, is a prehistoric ivory sculpture discovered in Hohlenstein-Stadel, a German cave, in 1939. Determined by carbon dating to be 35,000-41,000 years old, it is one of (if not *the*) oldest anthropomorphic art pieces.

Remember that time some people tried to launch a brand of "luxury" fursuits that actually looked rather mediocre. They were excessively overpriced and all of them featured a gaudy logo on the cheek of the suit's head.

Unfortunately, because of the costumed attendees being visible in many of the news recordings of the incident and the nature of the convention, several news programs did not take the situation seriously. The most infamous example being Mika Brzezinski inappropriately laughing live on air.
