This is why TPS was created in the first place - the criteria for TPS are different from asylum. The status, however, is not permanent, and the law granted the decision to make countries eligible (or ineligible) for this status to DHS.

Because asylum requires one to be persecuted for their race, national origin, political stance or religious beliefs. Asylum is not suitable for gangs or natural disasters. There are gangs in US too, as well as in South Africa.

There are sales people who bring millions of dollars each year, and there are those who bring what barely covers their compensation. Both are salespeople, but one of them will be paid MUCH more (and the company will go far trying to retain them - golden parachutes etc).

I know a lot of people who are not easily replaceable, even though many people would compete for their jobs and offering to do it at 1/100 of their salary (but obviously won't be as good). Sales jobs are good example. Looks easy outside, but a good salesperson is worth their weight in gold.

The job may be physically harder, but finding a replacement waiter is way EASIER. Like, if all your waiters leave tomorrow, it won't take you more than a few days to find replacement. If your top management leaves tomorrow, it may take months or years to find replacement acceptable to the board.

None of the "increase of productivity" came from the workers themselves. You did not grow another pair of arms, and you're not working longer hours. The increase of productivity came from better tools, processes and strategies - most of it is business investment, and none is worker-related.

You are missing basic understanding of how economy works. If everyone's pay "kept up with productivity", everyone would have more money - then the prices for everything would go up accordingly. This is exactly what happened after Covid. This would only work if YOUR pay increased but not anyone else.

Let me tell you how it worked in Soviet Union. The wages for each specific job were set by the government. Every factory or business paid the same salary (there were regional increases in some areas like Far North). They were far from what you'd consider fair. And willful unemployment was illegal.

The research I've read states that addiction is genetic, this is why some get addicted with the first hit and some can go on and off drugs for years with no visible issues. This means treating addicts is waste of money, they are essentially not treatable.

They already do. The wages are fair in sense there are people willing to do this work for this salary. The companies who offer wages too low cannot find workers, and have to raise the wages. Move back with parents - like most of the world lives - and you'd have no pressure to work for low wages.

Vast majority of addicts do not finish the treatment and will not become sober. Those who do, already receive necessary help - there is homeless housing but the rules are strict: no drugs etc. So the necessary separation is already there. The wages have never been "fair" in the whole history.

That's what freedom is. You have the right to demand the wages you want, regardless of productivity. This is why some people get salaries measuring in millions, despite their productivity not being 1000x more. The issue is finding someone who would pay you those wages. You want freedom only for you.

I do not envy them, I just do not want to spend any money on them. Responsibility is essential part of freedom - if you demand to be free to do anything you want but someone else must have responsibility to provide for you, things never work this way. You can either have both or none.

Having people like me to work for housing and food while allowing druggies to receive the same for free absolutely sends the message that druggies are better than me. Being a druggie is a life choice, not illness. "Unable to work" is different story, but the vast majority of homeless are able to.

Wages do not reflect - and have never reflected - workers' productivity at all. They reflect demand for workforce. As long as you have people willing to do the job for $10/hr, the wages for this job will not go up no matter how productivity raises. You seem to confuse wages with shareholder value.
