For SQ 846, the focus is now on accountability. Oklahomans should watch the upcoming legislative session as lawmakers create new voter ID rules. It is important to make sure these changes do not harm eligible voters. We are not finished with state questions.

Oklahoma voters have rejected SQ 844 and approved SQ 846. For SQ 844, lawmakers now need to use the regular legislative process to address problems with the state’s manufacturing property tax exemption. They should not shift these costs onto schools and local communities.

That has always been America’s promise: when we stand together, we have the power to build something better. The American story is still being written. It belongs to all of us. Let's continue that story together — stand up, get involved, and help shape our future. We are the American story.

In 1958, a group of young people led by Oklahoma City teacher Clara Luper sat down at a lunch counter. Their courage helped move our country forward. They weren’t wealthy or powerful. They were everyday people who believed change was possible — and by working together, they made it happen. 1/

America’s promise was never built for a few people at the top. For 250 years, everyday people have shaped this country, building it with their work, their ideas, and their determination. We deserve a country that serves us all.

Let’s build a country where everyone — regardless of the color of their skin, size of their bank account, or circumstances of their birth — can send their kids to a strong public school, live in a safe, affordable home, drink clean water, and access healthcare without going broke.

Oklahoma Policy Institute @okpolicy.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Our tax systems should reflect who we are & what we value. It should invest in opportunities for everyday Oklahomans – strong public schools, healthy communities, and thriving economies — not protect loopholes. That is a backward tax system that allows the wealthiest few to avoid paying their share.
120
Oklahoma Policy Institute @okpolicy.bsky.social · 24/06/2026
Tax laws increasingly reward wealth and income from stocks over wages earned through hard work. Such a tax system allows those who already have the most to make even more.

We are the American story. Not just the powerful. Not just the wealthy. All of us. For nearly 250 years, everyday people have built this country — in classrooms, small businesses, farms, neighborhoods, and communities. But somewhere along the way, our tax systems stopped reflecting that story. 1/
