🔍 Across Colombia, thousands of families are still searching for loved ones forcibly disappeared during decades of conflict. At the centre of this effort are the mujeres buscadoras (women searchers)—mothers, daughters, sisters, and partners who have become human rights defenders and peacebuilders. Their work is fundamental to Colombia’s peace process.🕊 I met with Adrianus Koetsenruijter, the EU Special Envoy for Peace in Colombia, to reflect on the vital role of the mujeres buscadoras in advancing truth, reparations, justice, and lasting peace.🇨🇴🇪🇺 The EU stands with Colombia’s mujeres buscadoras and welcomes Colombia’s historic law recognising them as key peacebuilders and guaranteeing their protection.
