The Badeschiff is a barge converted into a swimming pool, moored on the River Spree in Berlin. This allows people to swim in the Spree without coming into contact with its polluted water. The project was conceived and realised by Susanne Lorenz and the Spanish architectural firm AMP Arquitectos in 2002. It was their entry into a competition organised by Stadtkunstprojekte e.V. The Badeschiff opened in 2004 and is operated by Arena Berlin.

In 2006 and 2007, Radek Dabrowski and Michel Meijer photographed urban landscapes in Berlin featuring buildings and locations well known to the public. The aim was to capture a lively and natural impression of these buildings and locations with a high technical standard. To achieve this, they chose not to exclude people from the photographs. In the photographs, the public walking in and around the photographed building act as extras, whilst the building itself takes centre stage. That is not to say that the role of the people in the photograph is unimportant. In fact, quite the opposite: they make a significant contribution to the atmosphere in the photograph and reflect who the buildings and locations are intended for: people. High technical quality and a high degree of freedom in photographic possibilities were achieved through the use of a technical camera with the appropriate lenses.

The water battle, vegetable battle or bridge battle was held annually in the summer on the Oberbaumbrücke and was a contest between the residents of Friedrichshain on one side and the residents of Kreuzberg on the other. The party that managed to drive the other party off the bridge onto their own side was declared the winner. An important rule was that participants were only allowed to spray each other with water and throw soft and/or slimy objects, such as vegetables, fruit and eggs. Hard and heavy objects that could injure people were not permitted. The reason for the annual battle was the administrative merger of the districts of Friedrichshain and Kreuzberg in 2001. The Oberbaumbrücke connects the two districts and spans the River Spree, which forms the boundary there. The last water battle was held in 2013.
