If you don’t cross a border between territories with vastly different laws every twenty minutes, are you even walking?

A detailed map of the Holy Roman Empire and surrounding areas in 1444. Zooming in on modern south west Germany will reveal tiny territories containing tinier parts of other tiny territories.
