I managed to get AC8 to run around 50-60fps on my OneXPlayer 3 (at 800p, at 30W), and it only took a driver update, disabling EAC through one mod, and another mod that disables raytracing and a ton of other rendering + processing effects. UE5 is a dumb 😩 #AceCombat8

Booted up Ace Combat 5 and 3 on my Nova because 8 still doesn't work on my OneXPlayer (patch pls!!). First thing I noticed was the controls - yaw is L2/R2, decelerate/accelerate is L1/R1, so I had to switch them. Otherwise, good early first impressions. Also, Puddle of Mudd.

Finished Ace Combat 8. I have a lot to say, but it's probably my GOTY, although it's not without its faults. I've only played AC0 and 7 so far; as an overall package, this might have surpassed both, although it doesn't reach the same highs. Also every single track delivers and I 🧎 to Kobayashi

games this week: mostly Ace Combat 8, but still trying to squeeze in some Trails 2nd and Fields of Mistria. Also still tinkering with GameNative on my Nova, EDF5 actually runs okay (though it makes the fan go full blast) and Yakuza 0 now runs at a smooth 60fps.

I've had a pretty crappy week, but I've been playing Jumping Flash 2, Fortune's Weave, Trails 2nd, Fields of Mistria, and just started a BioRand run. I think every run requires at least one room where you're immediately stunlocked by Tyrants 🙂

I am abysmal at Puyo Puyo. Genuinely one of the worst to ever play it. I can't think of where to drop anything ahead of time to set up for those cool chains that others pull off so easily. Are there tutorials online, or within one of the Puyo games themselves on how to actually play it? 😢

First game beat on the Retroid Nova, did a run as Jill in Advanced mode in RE: Director's Cut. I've only ever played Standard, and I wanted to prep for a BioRand run or two next month. I did like the changes to the route, it's harder but manageable.

Spent a lot of my week testing if stuff works on my Retroid Nova (it usually does)

Ultra Street Fighter IV working on a Retroid Nova, via Xendroid. Its 60fps most of the time, I think the dips are not much different from the dips on actual hardware (which is why all FG tournaments used the training stage)

I've always thought that getting through FFXIV's MSQ shouldn't need to feel daunting, it's structured so that you can play in short bursts. If you're consistent about logging in, you'll definitely make progress.

I was randomly reminded of the Cure glitch in FFXI, where any Cure spell would do the max damage (99999) to Undead enemies. Think the servers were only live a few hours until the emergency maint. I think I remember someone drawing a pic of everyone in Jeuno dying to Cure spells, lol

Played some Yakuza 0 (GOG version) on GameNative. Runs pretty well with a 4:3 ratio (Nova w/ 8gb RAM). Seemed like a good idea, having the minigames and maybe sidequests accessible in a pocketable handheld. And I got to beat up Kuze again, just like old times 😊

The Nova and the RG 477M are both great handhelds, and I don't know if the Nova replaces it outright. For me, I wanted the flexibility of the Nova's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. If the 477M had that chip, I wouldn't get the Nova. I do like the metal chassis of the 477M, even if it's a chunker.

oops I the OneXPlayer 3 and Retroid Pocket Nova 🫠 Haven't had either for a week, but I love both. The OXP3 can play anything I throw at it and it runs smoothly with its amazing 8.8in OLED and 144hz VRR. The Nova is a dream EDC handheld, here I have it playing Everybody's Golf 6 (PS3!).

Testing hakuX (Xbox emu) and Xendroid (Xbox 360 emu) on my Retroid Pocket Mini. It's asking a lot of this handheld to get these to run, but they do, mostly. Played Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (for research purposes; mildly playable), Bangai-O Missile Fury and Geometry Wars 3 (playable).

Finished Community Chest 4, honestly kind of a mixed bag. Some annoying enemy placements, some are key-hunty, some didn't provide enough health or ammo. The map designs by themselves were mostly decent. I did like map 11, 13, 28, and especially 21. #doom #gzdoom #uzdoom

This is map 21, it had a lot of high-tech backgrounds with huge spaces, and it tried to tell a story. This cyberdemon encounter had it teleport across the arena, making it much harder to dodge.
