a nice side effect of this is that they are now seeing video game development from the other side-- not just as a player of the games it makes me so proud, honestly

i teach coding on the side, one of my students was interested in learning how to program a video game. one of the most satisfying things i've observed so far with their learning was the paradigm shift from "the art is the harder part, the coding is secondary" to "the coding is just as hard"

*unless I were-- (sorry, grammar error)

... information from these channels, and not the protocols themselves: why do i need to exert my brain on that? it's the exact same logic as digital artists who use art programs-- why would they need to know the logic of the art program enabling them to do the focus of their work? they don't.

... components of my utility application, is that something i need to waste mental space/time on? if i were consistently, or focused on network protocols, do i really need to memorize or have a deep understanding of this? i feel like no-- if my task is to focus on what to do with the flow of ...

.. that doesn't require education or understanding. it's the kind of work that is reference to manuals, to standards, to material that doesn't require logic, or consideration beyond "is this written correctly". e.g. if i want to use websockets to establish a communication protocol between the ...

i feel that for those of us who are educated on what AI *actually is*: there's a different discussion taking place. AI is a tool that (at least in my opinion) delegates a lot of the grunt work that doesn't deserve mental space for what really matters. "grunt work" insofar as the kind of tedium ..

so it's a weird mental space to be a computer scientist, but be completely fine with AI in its current state, (its technological state, not its impact... that's a different discussion) while i have reservations about *regular* people's overreliance on it as some kind silver bullet solution...

It’s fully done now, going to focus on the next utilities and tools to make my streams super chill and cool 😎

twordle game is now fully implemented and works perfectly, it’s *mostly* visually put together, but still needs a bit of tweaking and polish before I’m going to allow it to be a redeemable reward with twitch channel points— but a short hop and a skip with code that I’m tackling very soon!

apparently the wordle like clone exists already-- "twordle" just giving it proper credit

bsky.app/profile/ohem... alright, putting this question out to the world at large: what games do you want to see in my chat? got the following games in my crosshairs: - chess - wordle-like clone - snake - plinko what else would be cool?!

alright! server hub, chat listener, test pygame script, and a way to display the output of the pygame script in my OBS as a media source— am so close to having something working that my chat can play 🙏
