mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Manchester by the Sea Incredible movie and acting by Casey Affleck playing Lee Chandler. Man does his life suck, but as the movie goes on and it slowly unravels the level of grief Lee is burying, oooooffff. 010

mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026R.O.D - READ OR DIE Been eyeing this for a while, mostly to check out some of Kouji Masunari's earlier shows. Good OVA, has soul. Not moved enough to check out the rest of the series however. 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026ONE PIECE HEROINES Every one piece special episode has delivered, this being no exception. Amazing episode, heartwarming tale and incredible visuals. Takashi Kojima AD and character design combo goes crazy. Nami is great like usual 🥹🥹🥹 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026We Are Aliens My favourite screening at Annecy. Emotional rollercoaster of a story, incredible drawings and rotoscoping animation, but the direction was definitely the standout. Kouhei Kadowaki is someone I will keep an eye on deffo. 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026THE RIBBON HERO Iffy on some parts but adore some other parts. As an adaptation to an Osamu Tezuka manga, you get what you are expecting. It's just.. the characters are so shallow and the story doesn't really... achieve much (?!?). Idk. 120
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Ninja Scroll One of those anime movies that does not age well over time 😭😭, enjoyed it to an extent tho. Your usual boss "Monster of the Week" Ninja story with a cliche ending and it has its fair share of blood! 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026 A NEW DAWN Really beautiful movie with a unique plotline. Unfortunately not much praise to give, the story is a pack of aaaaaaaah. But hey, none of that matters if what you are watching looks good at least! (I cannot believe this won an award at Annecy 😭😭😭😭) 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026The Obsessed I really enjoyed this movie. Visual successor to Windy Tales for sure. Lovely colours and the story is quite heartwarming. Hmmmm yes colours hmmmmmmmm. On a side note, it is rare I enjoy anime musicals but this was deffo one of the better ones! 100
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Sekiro: No Defeat (Annecy Movie Cut) Crazy good animation and the atmosphere set is remarkable. Unfortunately the movie cut feels extremely rushed (they cut some parts out from the soon to be released series) and the direction feels not so cohesive. Waiting for the series for final verdict! 100

mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 19/06/2026The code is an absolute mess currently haha, I definitely do want to open-source it one day. When I polish the renderer a bit more I will probably open-source it for a bit and let you know! 010

mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 11/06/2026Punch-Drunk Love Fun movie. Highlight is definitely how the audiovisuals depict Barry's mental state throughout the movie. Especially with how chaotic the audio becomes when he is becoming more mentally unstable. 110

mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 07/05/2026And the art... her art is so good. Incredibly detailed. Her backgrounds, the clothing... I sometimes had to take a step back and just breath to appreciate the level of artwork Kaoru Mori showcases. 110
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 07/05/2026Kaoru Mori also seemlesly interweaves historical events into her story. The Russian conquest of Central Asia plays a major role, making an authentic experience for the reader. Both from the eyes of the Henry the English researcher and the native people of the land. 110
mickey @ohdonny.bsky.social · 07/05/2026The amount of research and detail that is depicted throughout her story, that be it the period-accurate clothing to Islamic practices throughout the region, to try and tell an authentic tale of interpersonal and familial relationship is just remarkable.
