I’d love to have that kind of long, flowing beard with the perfectly coiffed moustache that I see on certain extraordinarily hawt men. But I fear it’s just not in the cards for me. For some reason I thought of Ponderosa today, which vanished from my part of the world ages ago. Specifically, I remember going there once as a child, and thinking “this food really isn’t very good”, and being surprised that restaurant food — a rare treat for me back then — could be mediocre.

TIL the tiki restaurant in Montréal I visited once in the early 90s on the insistence of a friend who loved the over-the-top tackiness of it… Did not quietly close as I assumed, but evolved into a multinational restaurant empire which is still thriving today.

I enjoyed Idiocracy, but it had what I thought was a major logic flaw: the supposed society of idiots it depicted still had technology, and you need at least a few smart people to keep that stuff running. Well maybe it is prophetic after all, because it looks like AI has patched that plot hole.

I was craving one of the traditional foods of my people, but the only Tiger Tail ice cream I could find at the nearby markets is a 1.5L tub for $10, far more than I can realistically consume. I tried to take a picture of the smoke engulfing my city just now, but my phone tried to correct for it and prompted me to clean the lens. I have an air purifier in my bedroom.
