Stopping Rosebank will have no impact on cutting emissions, demand met elsewhere. We do need; - Reservoirs - Offshore wind infrastructure - Electric rail capacity to cut huge domestic air trips & build on 200% growth - Zero emissions power stations …all opposed by GPEW.

🇮🇹 Naples' Circumvesuviana railway. Once a dilapidated, unreliable, graffiti covered network - but now under new management! Today the first 2008 train has been repainted a livery to match the fleet of new Stadler trains that start in October. Let's hope graffiti becomes a thing of the past 🫟

Another breakdown and train evacuation on Naples’ Circumvesuviana this morning. The glamorous Amalfi Coast is let down by unreliable 1974 trains. But it’s their final year, new Stadler trains testing - on another line. Imagine this in a single bore tunnel or viaduct.

🍝🍷 Treni Turistici Italy’s heritage restaurant & sleeper train is no more. An ‘Orient Express for the rest of us’ - high quality services at intercity prices… But losses of €62m in 3 years finally caught up. Odd destinations, short notice to book & random cancellations didn’t help. Arrivederci 😢

The original order for new trains was with Naples Hitachi plant, but was challenged by Swiss Stadler. They won & built started building in Belarus... In 2022 moved to Valencia but factory flooded. Now finally in service on an isolated line to Baiano. 10 in use end '26. 45 in '27.

🚉 First trip on a shiny new train 🇮🇹. Years late, but Naples' Circumvesuviana now has brand new Stadler trains to replace 1974 stock. Sparse interior with grey plastic sideways seats. But good aircon, USB charging, PRM compliant (but not quite level boarding). A massive improvement.
