My #leaf for #pixel_dailies. Went 8x8 today, because I think this might be one I’ll use for Churro’s game. @pixeldailies.bsky.social #PixelArt

The #NES color palette made some of these tricky, particularly with so few grays. But specifically the dark border around the bottom half made this read as an original #Nintendo DS rather than the intended white DS Lite. So I made a few adjustments that hopefully make it more clear. #PixelArt

Pixel art of classic Nintendo consoles in two rows over a salmon-to-orange gradient background. Top row shows NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube. Bottom row shows Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, and DS Lite in their original or most iconic color schemes.

Added some #Nintendo handhelds to fill out the mix of my 16x16 #PixelArt consoles. All using #NES palette colors.

Two rows of pixel art Nintendo consoles, with early 2000 era reflections, on a salmon to orange gradient background. From left-to-right:
top row- NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube
bottom row- Gameboy, Gameboy Color, GBA, and DS Lite

The N64 was driving me nuts. The black wasn’t really helping any of the features be more clear, and it had really unnatural contrast. So I did it again.

Pixel art Nintendo consoles, each as their own 16 x 16 bounded icon. Using only NES palette colors. Left to right NES, SNES, N64, and GameCube. Over a gradient background fading from orange at the top to salmon at the bottom. Each has a drop shadow and early 2000s era reflection faintly underneath. This version updated the N64 to use less black, and be more symmetrical and even color.

After my #PixelArt #GameCube I did for the “dolphin” #pixel_dailies, I thought I’d have a go at the other classics as well.

An apparent Japanese magazine page for the #Zelda #OcarinaOfTime remake was found with a QR code pointing here: www.nintendo.com/jp/games/swi... Probably incidental, the campaign breadcrumb is “2026summer_software-lineup”, though the digital version of Prime Remastered was shadow dropped…

Listen, it’s obviously wildly anticipated, and I’m vicariously excited for people who are looking forward to it, but I can’t stress enough how little I care about Grand Theft Auto 6. Is it okay to say that?

If they had shown gameplay, the discussion would focus on microscopic details, a totally different impact.
Whoever has been planning what and how Zelda trailers unfold for the last decade is incredibly skilled at their job.

Many people’s final words after the trailer were something like, “OMG, show me MORE!” This is exactly the exit you want from a trailer, overwhelming emotional association and eagerness to see more.

If you were disappointed the #Zelda #OcarinaOfTime teaser was short… some observations from reactions. Almost everyone who had history with the game was holding back tears or openly weeping — many from the first 3 notes of Saria’s Song, being thrust thirty years back into childhood memories.

It’s fun to have 10 year olds argue with me on the Internet about what I did or didn’t pay for video games with my own money in the nineteen hundreds.

I’ve been thinking about moments I’m looking forward to in the remake, and how crazy is #OcarinaOfTime that the Dark Link battle in that foggy, mirrored‑water nightmare room is a MID BOSS BATTLE! …in one of the game’s 10+ dungeons!

I get being nervous about the #OoT remake, but from what we’ve seen, this must be in house or a close trusted studio. #Nintendo will have been pushing as hard as possible to make this worthy of a 10/10. The fact that we saw so little is an indicator of confidence. They want to hold reveals close.

So many reactions to OOT remake call out looking like Twilight Princess. His outfit is reminiscent of the tunic wrap he has in early TP. I don’t think it’s intended as a hint or anything, but I would not at all be surprised if we get a similar remake of Twilight Princess in a few years time too.

#Pokemon being diverse and numerous, are pretty difficult to distill into 8x8 #pixelart, but I thought the starters at least could be fairly recognizable. Charmander and Squirtle could practically be the same besides color at this size if you wanted, but I tried to differentiate them on vibes too.

The #StarFox 64 remake exists because it’s the best* game in the franchise. Easy to remake and leverage Switch 2’s power. Adventures and Assault are both NSO candidates. Those releases are marketing, but there’s no “Star Fox” to sell. *Star Fox was popular, but scores are rare and users favor 64

For today’s #pixel_dailies #VideoGameArtStyle prompt, I didn’t want to stray outside my common 16x16 with NES color constraints. So here is an Isabelle walk animation in the style of the original Zelda. @pixeldailies.bsky.social
