For ACARS any RTL-SDR will work... There are only a few RTL-SDR older versions clones that have a built it air-band filter and don't work for ACARS reception, but normally even the V2 will work fine for that use... Only for HF bands RTL-SDR's are now almost unusable if they are just revamped V2's...

Yep... Do that and avoid spending money on a useless fake... It always depends on the bands you want to use the SDR for... If it is for high frequencies from 27 to 2.0Ghz the RTL works fine, but if you want to use it for HF bands monitoring the MSI clone is a far better option...

These are the latest news about RTL-SDR V4... As they say, there will be a new V4(Lite) version of the RTL-SDR. All the supposed V4 actually being sold are just V2's on a V4 enclosure... To be honest the MSI clone I bought is still more effective than any RTL-SDR no mater what version it is...

It's great and quite precise... It also works with the majority of the SDR software available... I love mine, it works everyday as a panadpter for my 11 meters rig with a switch and already toke some overloads with no problems... Nowadays RTL-SDR are a scam and this is far better for a low price...

I got myself a MSI (SRD Play RSP1 clone) and it works great with 10Mhz bandwidth 12Bit that is much better than the 3 Mhz/8Bit of the RTL-SDR... for around 50€ I got a nice panadapter for my rig...! 👍

In reality what you can find nowadays is V3 old boards revamped as V4, V5 or whatever... There are no more chips used on the V4 being produced any more it was stopped... What there are still is the chips used until the V2 version of the RTL-SDR some with a upscaller circuit for the HF frequencies...
