Where do #electrons go in a #cyanobacterial cell? My new #Opinion article explores the shared #network connecting #photosynthesis and #respiration , and how the cell’s redox state shapes the opportunities for electron transfer. www.mdpi.com/2673-9410/6/...

Aquatic science is coming to the #Kinneret this December! Dr. Yael Amitai is organizing the annual IAAS conference, and Dr. Shani Shoham and Dr. Oded Bergman will lead a session on #phytoplankton #physiology. Registration is open: israelaquatic.sites.tau.ac.il/2026-meeting...

Three months before our paper on #Microcystis #heat #stress, Wey et al. mapped cyanobacterial electron pathways in a review that helps explain our result: the strain that lost PSII survived. Two independent papers, one scientific conversation. doi.org/10.1093/plph...

As a child, one thing about #lakes always puzzled me. Diving down on a hot summer day, the water turned cold suddenly, not gradually. Why ? Warwick Vincent explains it beautifully in the Wetzel Lecture Series. #SIL #Ambassador #thermocline m.youtube.com/watch?v=qiLR...
Depth dependent temperature profiles that show a monomictic Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). In the winter month the lake is mixed and temperature is similar in all depths. At summer, warmer water layer towards the water surface are less dense and they float over more dense colder layer. The connective layer where sudden decrease in temperature occurs is termed the termocline. The figure shows this in colors blue to cold and red to warm.

What is #limnology? Since I started working at @iolr-il.bsky.social , I have been asked this surprisingly often. In this video, narrated by Prof. Warwick Vincent for #SIL, #harmful blooms and algal ecology, a field closely connected to my own work. youtu.be/oyJzrW_TkyE?...

Came to the Hebrew University to give a seminar and left humbled by two days of inspiring discussions with scientists across Earth sciences, Plant physiology and Chemical biology. Grateful for the opportunity. #Habs #Cyanobacteria #Globalwarming www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Excited to give a #seminar this Thursday at @hebrewuniversity.bsky.social , Givaat Ram: “Extended #heat stress reveals divergent bioenergetic #strategies in #Microcystis aeruginosa.” Looking forward to discussing #cyanobacteria heat stress, harmful algal blooms #habs, and #lake research.
