You can't give an arena shooter hero shooter elements and then not give players equal access to the heroes. It might work better in something like Apex cuz BR's are inherently random and asymmetrical but arena shooters are known for having an even playing field

Quake champions does such a good job of taking the setting and story of the original game and turning it into something semi-coherent and intriguing. Again, I really wish it had a campaign. Also gameplay and environments are really great. The monetization sucks ass tho

Finished with Quake 4 and Doom 2016. Quake 4 was overall a lot of fun, tho that setting continues to be the weakest and forgettable. I already remember so much less of it than Doom 3. 2016 is amazing, no notes. Onto checking out Quake Champions and its lore

Went from a bad Halo clone, to a sorta 360 era console friendly boomer shooter, to a much more fully realized retro boomer shooter, just not quite as fast, or as vehicle, or as non-linear as the original Quakes. But still very fun

Anyways this game really turned around in the latter half. The entire 1st 2 acts were a bad Halo clone that nearly burnt me out, & I was initially too burnt to get excited when the real game started, but towards the end of act 3 you're given nearly the whole arsenal and the training wheels are off

I understand that a good portion of these levels are like multi-part chains of one big level but that doesn't mean each part is necessarily short. I expected maybe a Halo-length campaign with how much the opening 2 acts of the game were clearly a Halo clone to ease in console players but nah

Depriving a trans woman of her hrt in prison as a punishment is the same as injecting a cis woman with testosterone in prison as a punishment. Same goes for depriving trans men of testosterone being the same as injecting cis men with estrogen & anti-androgens
