My only silver lining is that the deaths of Dolly Parton and Tim Curry allow us to pause and remember how absolutely influential they were, and how we are all better people because of them. It's hard to put into words how much their works meant to those struggling with identity.

I guess what I'm saying is, in order to make a difference with your writing, you need a broader approach. Writing well isn't enough. You need to network with all forms of artists, learn multiple arts, and use modern vessels to carry those ideas off page, and into peoples minds and hearts. (5/5)

This is all let alone from the fact that we have entered into an era where generative AI can mimic others writing style, and the over-saturation of gen AI serves as the final nail in the coffin for standalone writers. Visual media. Audio. Multimedia. This is what people actually consume. (4/5)

Writing can be fun! Reading can be fun! ... but because of the dominance of the multimedia landscape, internet culture, and social media, the bar to get peoples attention is EXTREMELY high. Nowadays, visual and audio media are the norm. Writing is just a step to creating that media. (3/5)

From my personal experience attempting to get beta readers, and general feedback, most people local to you read only when they have to. Most people hear you're a writer and respond warmly. When it comes to actually reading, different story. A normal refrain. A fact of most art, really. (2/5)

Feel like ranting today ... As a kid, I remember being so inspired by pulp fantasy novels that I wanted to write my own someday. Started some WIPs over the years. However, now 39, I've come to the conclusion that writing as a stand-alone art isnt enough anymore. (1/5)

Readers needed. I posted satire about Gen Con 2026's tornado warning on Saturday. While no tornado, the warning disrupted the event. Fans joked they were "marked safe from the tornado". I thought funny to wrote an alt version of events. Not used to writing satire. Is it funny? Boring? Mean? I dunno
