Went to Netherlands last month with friends, to see other friends:)

I need to read more Hemingway. This is from A Farewell to Arms. With the state of things, it resonates: "The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially."

There's a bad storm blowing through. It's almost noon, the power is out and it's almost as dark as 5am.

I got a deal on 8x8 inch prestresched, primed canvases. I bought 24 of them. Now I need to come up with a concept or theme I can use to create a series of paintings. My current body of work is all over the place. Exploration is good but it should at least look like it's from the same artist. #Goals🎨

Well, one of the dogs just vomited all over the bed (2:59am). We moved out to the couch and he vomited all over that too, followed by the floor. I cleaned everything up and put new bedding on the bed. We're in bed again and hopefully his stomach has settled (4:22am). Poor pup:(

Color pencil sketch of a random model, in my little 5" by 7" sketch book. It's a little rough in some areas, but it was during last Thursday night's Drink & Draw, on the Heavy Metal magazine discord.

This Friday's used book haul for under $40: • Four books on learning photography, • One very pretty photobook on modern nature along the Oregon trail, • One book on 50 great architects, • One book on corporate transformation, • One book on PR strategy.

Went to PA over the weekend. My friends and I saw lots of art. It's a shame I can only post four photos.

Pay them as much as teachers; raise teacher wages. Give cops continued education requirements. Force them to make sure they understand the people they're protecting. Make them take ethics & corruption screening. Keep body cameras on, 100% of the time. Federalize disciplinary records. Fire bad cops.

"common issues" ... It's okay, you can say it. It's all the chaos Trump and the United States has caused. Most of us are trying to fix it within the law. Keep in mind Harris won the popular vote, and some blue districts mysteriously didn't have votes (buried in the news beneath Trump's chaos.) Help?

Poor baby would burn the world to the ground because the rest of the free world won't help with his illegal war in the middle East. It's no wonder why he has the worst presidential approval rating ever recorded. Even Republican voters are turning on him. I hope he gets tried for treason. Guilty.

Nikki Olivia @odd-sight.bsky.social · 20/04/2026

So his corrupt justice department (his people) say HE owns all the evidence of his illegal actions? Golly, I wonder why he's trying to overturn this law that's meant to hold the president accountable in the event they break the law... 🤔🤔🤔

Too bad we, the ones who ended up actually paying, won't see a cent of that money.

Again, false comparison. Updating numbers based on facts is good science. What's bad here is Liar Felon Pedo Chump put a loyalist goon in charge. It's almost like he wanted someone who might cook the books if he pressured them enough. Chump is a lying amoral unethical confidence man. Trust = Zero

100

Nikki Olivia @odd-sight.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

False comparison. The previous administrations' numbers also came from an insulated, experienced, fully staffed department. Last year, the commissioner of the Bureau of Labor Statistics was fired because Liar Felon Pedo Chump didn't LIKE the numbers. He installed someone who was loyal to him instead

120

Nikki Olivia @odd-sight.bsky.social · 11/02/2026

Alas. We, the American people, do not trust the current administration's job numbers.

Just keep swimming; just keep swimming... I feel so burnt out from the collapse of the economy, justice, the climate, respect for the scientific method, history, journalism, humanity, morality, and ethics. Presently, I find little pleasure in my daily toil. Just keep swimming; just keep swimming...

I just woke up from the strangest dream. I started in an airport where I was picked up by an eclectic group of people I used to know. We stopped at a hotel, hosting more people I used to know. From there we ended up walking down a snowy field into a convention center, with EVERYONE I've ever known.

I have a problem. I recently discovered BrickLink Studio, for Lego, and it's been eating the time I should be using for sleep. It's 8 hours of sleep per week, right?

Holiday travel plans fell through—super sad about it—so I'm making an extra fancy New Year's Eve dinner for three. I should have invited more people. All that's left is roasting the chicken and asparagus, reheating and seasoning the potatoes, and toast the baguette. I'll post photos next year. ;P

I'm still working on it, but this is from last night's HeavyMetal magazine's Thursday night Drink & Draw, on Discord. It's oil pastel on canvas. I just added the blue, but I need to tighten up everything and add details. I'm not sure exactly what I'm going to do with the background. :)

There's a scientist/inventor out of the UK. He makes videos for educational purposes, & freely teaches anyone who has the curiosity to learn. I have tremendous respect for what he does, so I thought I'll paint a portrait of him. It's in progress—red underpaint, b&w structure, & color glaze to come🎨🖌️

Stress can cause the Sansevieria Cylindrica (aka African Spear plant) to flower. So when you're stressed, think about it as an opportunity to blossom🌸🌸🌸

I forgot to open the shutters of his favorite window yesterday morning. Poor pup kept trying to use his X-ray vision to no avail. He was up there a good half hour, too.

I really like going to the Heavy Metal discord chat drawing group, Thursdays, at 10 PM ET. Tonight, I couldn't think of something original to draw so I drew a horse – kind of overdone, I know. It would probably benefit from a blending stick and a softer graphite pencil but not if it's just a sketch.

I had a day-long conversation with ChatGPT this week. In short, I asked what would happen if everyone has free access to nutritious food (grown autonomously) and free energy. Either corporations or the super-rich power hungry people would try to take it away, OR we'd develop into a Star Trek utopia.

Does anyone else have a problem with starting a book only to put it down in the middle and start another one? This past year and a half has been particularly bad. 📚

My Ten 2025 Resolutions: Find a stable job. Make (and finish) more art. Finish writing that novel. Reduce TV/screen time. Read more books (100 book goal). Spend more time with friends. Have more dates with my wife. Start exercising consistently. Get involved in community. Finish all house projects.

With age I find myself losing my grace more often. It is difficult not to judge ignorant people and hold my tongue. I do not want to bottle up my anger, nor fall into apathy. I suppose I struggle to forgive because there is no repentance. Teaching seems a reasonable recourse – it is that or madness.

Perspective is a concept that's incredibly difficult to teach, specifically when one isnt open to seeing things from unfamiliar or unrelatable positions. Most issues could be resolved completely if time was invested to understand opposition. Alas, tribalism divides more tribes than any true villain.
