I always plan my teams and naming scheme in advance, but since this is the first time I'll be streaming a full Pokémon game (and blind at that) I decided to jot down all the names I want to give the Pokémon in advance so I'm not doing research for an hour every time I catch the next team member lmao

Octomari @octomari.eurosky.social · 12/10/2026

Downloading (free) academic papers so I can verify the name for my Pokémon in my Black playthrough are not only on theme for both my overall naming scheme and for the Pokémon itself, but also that the name is historically and linguistically accurate. I'm REALLY going all out for this playthrough lol

...I also plan my teams and how to catch them in advance, since I found I REALLY enjoy playing these games that way. Throughout this thread, I've attached the various teams I've used throughout this journey. I even found 2 full odds shinies in gen 4!! (Barboach is Plat, Stantler in SS)...

...I can now play my saves on PC, which means I can now stream my games, without breaking the (admittedly, completely arbitrary) rules I've given myself for these playthroughs! So, uh, expect a first time playthrough of Pokémon Black on stream soon :)...

...games, but it was never really fesable for me to do so. However, with my 3DS, I just successfully dumped a rom of Pokémon Soul Silver, dumped my Soul Silver save, caught Ho-Oh on PC via melonDS, saved, and injected that save back into the Soul Silver cartridge. It worked FLAWLESSLY. Which means..

My biggest issue is that, by doing things this way, I've struggled to share my experiences with others. I would LOVE to stream these...

Finally, my Pokémon Soul Silver team! Mamoswine gets to make its appearance here after the shiny Whiscash stole its spot in Platinum. I'm SUPER looking forward to my Pokémon Black team!!

...time on DS, and had an interesting time with it. I for sure enjoyed the Kanto half a ton. I'm now moving up the rest of my Emerald and LeafGreen Pokémon up to Platinum and Soul Silver, and I'm catching the last of the legendaries before doing events. Basically, what I'm trying to do is to...

My Pokémon Platinum team! This one includes a shiny Whiscash! I was going to use Mamoswine, but fate had other plans. I LOVED this team. Azelf is so cool, Chatter was a fun move to use and Chatot was surprisingly good?? This team really made me love these Pokémon and Platinum as a whole.

...which is now probably my favourite pre-3DS era Pokémon. I also used the DNS exploit to experience the Shaymin, Darkrai, and even the unused Arceus event. All stuff you can do without hacks on these original versions of the games. I just played through Soul Silver (borrowed) for the first...

My LeafGreen team! I opted to go with a mono-fire run, since Leaf Green has exactly 6 fire types, and I've played FireRed so many times.

Octomari @octomari.eurosky.social · 08/10/2026

...I'd never played Yellow or Crystal before, and for LeafGreen and Emerald I did SUPER deep dives. We're talking rng maniping shinies to get that experience, and using ACE to obtain the event items so I could catch mythicals legitimately. I also played Platinum for the first time on DS (borrowed)..

My Pokémon Emerald team! I chose not to use a starter, since I've played the Hoenn games so many times before.

So I've been playing through all the mainline Pokémon games in order, using only official releases so I can trade up my Pokémon. I started doing this before I even started streaming, and playing a game here or there. Pokémon Yellow on the 3DS, Crystal a bit later on on 3DS...
