No federal law bans transgender youth health care – and today's rule from the Trump administration doesn't change that. It remains legal and protected in many states. Providers should not change how they deliver this care. (1/2)

Rhode Island district judge Mary Mcelroy has quashed the subpoena from the DOJ seeking to access the medical records of trans youth. She enjoined DOJ as well. She calls DOJ "untrustworthy" and DOJ misrepresented and withheld information from the court. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
The image is a legal document titled "Memorandum and Order" from the **United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island**, presided over by Judge Mary S. McElroy.
The text focuses on a case involving an administrative subpoena to **Rhode Island Hospital** (C.A. No. 1:26-mc-0007-MSM-AEM). A significant portion of the second paragraph is highlighted in yellow, which states:
> "DOJ has proven unworthy of this trust at every point in this case. It has misrepresented and withheld information to both this Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas (the “Texas court”). It did so in an obvious effort to shield it’s recent investigative tactics—previously rejected by every other court to review them—from this Court’s review, in favor of a distant forum that DOJ deems friendly to its political positions."
>
A footnote at the bottom of the page cites remarks from **Judge Reed O'Connor** regarding "forum shopping" by the Department of Justice.

🚨Big news! Four California families are suing for discrimination in a class action after Rady abruptly ended their care: “Our lawsuit alleges that ... to terminate care for transgender patients is discrimination … because Rady is basically deciding to stop care based on who those patients are."

We’re suing Rady Children’s Health for violating its legal obligations to preserve access to gender-affirming care for patients under 19.    Rady broke its promises when it decided to end access to these vital services in response to the Trump Admin’s illegal campaign against gender-affirming care.

JUST IN: A judge quashed the subpoena to Boston Children's Hospital by the DoJ that sought the records of trans patients. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
A court order from the United States District Court, dated September 9, 2025, in case 1:25-mc-91324-MJJ. The order grants a Motion to Quash a subpoena.
Highlighted text explains the judge's reasoning: that the subpoena reflects the administration's disapproval of the transgender community, and its true purpose is to interfere with gender-affirming care in Massachusetts, harass the hospital, and intimidate patients. The judge finds the government failed to show proper purpose and that the subpoena was "motivated only by bad faith."
The order is signed by Judge Myong J. Joun.
