Defend VPNs from government bans!
VPNs make it safer to use the Internet. Governments are trying to ban them. Sign to renew your commitment and tell world leaders: using the Internet safely and privately is a human right. Don’t ban VPNs!   Last year, nearly 20,000 VPN users mobilized to demand safe, private browsing. But with the continued global rise of […]

VPNs are used by journalists, activists, businesses and ordinary people to protect their traffic, access information and make surveillance harder. Privacy tools shouldn’t become illegal just because they make surveillance harder.

The excuse is always "online safety." But these laws make you hand over your ID or scan your face to use the internet, then go after VPNs so you can't opt out.

Today is Defend VPNs Day, organized by @fightfortheftr. Sometimes you need to stand up for yourself and others when a threat emerges. Governments everywhere are trying to restrict or outright ban VPNs, and if we don't fight back they'll get away with it.

Obscura is designed differently. You → Obscura relay → Mullvad exit → Internet Obscura sees your IP, but your traffic is encrypted and sent to Mullvad, so we cannot decrypt it. Mullvad sends your traffic out, but only knows you're an Obscura user, not who you are.

VPNs themselves are still legal. I don't think they realize just how easy it is to circumvent this because typically sites check your IP, timezone, and language on your system. You can very easily change all of this. eff.org/deeplinks/2...
