This is your sign to write an email to that teacher you once had who made a difference in your life and you think about from time to time. No matter how long ago.

In these conversations about the things which matter most (politics, philosophy, religion) I don’t want your well-thought-out arguments. I want your vulnerability. I want your self-reflection. I want to hear the edge of what you’re learning.

The new policy allowing ICE to raid schools has caused attendance to drop. I read horrific headlines on the daily, but today this one felt the heaviest. All the kids in our neighborhoods matter.

Today the president announced his plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza of 1.8 million Palestinians and his plans to level it and rebuild for longterm US ownership. What are we going to do? We can’t let this happen.

I will say that an elected president releasing his own currency in his name to compete with the American dollar a day before his inauguration is deeply unethical and feels like treason.

Presidents shouldn’t be able to pardon themselves or their family members. If you want to reevaluate the justice system, do it for everyone.

Given the chasm between solid scholarship about the Bible and popular understandings of it, I don’t think the voices demanding we “put the Bible back in schools” know what they’re asking for.
