Every object in a collection comes with its own little to-do list: Photograph the verso. Confirm dimensions. Review the label translation. We added a way to link those to-dos directly to their objects. That way they’re right there, ready to be crossed off.

As placeholder text goes, lorem ipsum is kind of a bummer. Pain and suffering. For our sample digital exhibitions, we created themed versions. E.g. for Meow What? Cats in Prints: Lorem ipsum felis domesticus, vibrissae et feles purrata magnificat. Miau miau in sole dormiens gaudium sit amet… 🐈

View of an object page in a digital exhibition. The image, at left, is of a color lithograph of a large brown tabby cat reclining on a salmon-colored pillow. On the right is object information and placeholder label text:

Sometimes it's hard to *see* the exhibition while you're *seeing* the exhibition. A digital version lets you explore it again from anywhere. Take your time. And wear your biggest hat. 👇William Heath ("Paul Pry"), We Have the Exhibition to Examine, 1827–29. The Met (full caption in alt text)

Hand-colored satirical print depicting a comically crowded exhibition gallery filled with elaborately dressed visitors. Women wear enormous, plumed hats and voluminous colorful gowns. Visitors press closely together trying to view paintings hung salon-style.

We love exhibitions. We love them so much that we built a database to help people find exhibitions at their favorite museums in the US. It’s called EXH.CAT. Search and discover current, upcoming, and past exhibitions in over 250 cities. We're at 11,500+ exhibitions and adding more every week!

Five sample search results for a search for "Your Favorite Museum" in the EXH.CAT exhibitions database. Results include a future exhibition, a current exhibition, an exhibition that's about to close, a digital exhibition, and a past exhibition.

Do you know about Open Access and Open Content programs? Several major museums make selections of images available for download and use. We're using an OA image to illustrate our post! 🖼️: John Kay, The Favourite Cat and De La-Tour Painter (detail), 1813, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York
