Alberta farmers made good seeding progress during the week ended June 2, the province’s agriculture department said in its most recent crop report. Benefiting from dry conditions, the pace of planting for major crops advanced 18 points at more than 92 per cent complete.

NAM population of 707 F2:3 lines identified eight resistance QTLs, confirming locations of four genes (Pc38, Pc45, Pc46, Pc50), and mapping two (Pc36, Pc70) for the first time. Several genes showed linkage on chr3D, 1C, and 7D, with 31 disease resistance-related genes identified.
