Two Thousand Years Old and Still Not Done With Water Management" #Nature #Photography #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 The Pont du Gard stands in full Roman glory above a riverbed that looks more like a gravel pit – water: no longer here or not yet back. While the aqueduct once carried water for miles, today only a handful of tourists stroll through the bone-dry valley floor beneath it.

'Lukullische Souvenirs' #FotoVorschlag 🇩🇪 Lukullische Souvenirs – Sattes Auge, leerer Magen 🇬🇧 Lucullan Souvenirs – A Feast for the Eyes, Not the Stomach #Photography #Sicily #Italy #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 A Sicilian souvenir shop overflows with painted ceramics – plates, cups, pomegranates and lemons in clay, arranged temptingly but utterly inedible. A wooden Buddha meditates amid the abundance, the only one in the room resisting the urge to add another trinket to the pile.

🇬🇧 "Stone Shark" — the discoverers immortalized as apex predators, minus the guilt. #Photography #Lisboa #Monument #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 The Padrão dos Descobrimentos rises on the banks of the Tagus in Lisbon against a deep blue sky, its pointed bow jutting upward like a blade. Shot from below, the monument loses all heroic gravity and looks like a fin cutting through the water.

'(Feuer)Hydrant' #FotoVorschlag 🇩🇪 "Der Dorfsheriff mit Migräne" 🇬🇧 "The Village Sheriff with a Migraine" #Photography #Streetart #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 A colorfully painted hydrant stands guard in front of a green wooden fence, its red cap serving as a hat atop a fiercely mustachioed painted face. The bold red, white, yellow, and blue color-blocking turns this sober piece of firefighting equipment into a defiant little street sculpture.

'Jedes Schild hat seine Bewandtnis' #FotoVorschlag 🇩🇪 Jedes Schild hat seine Bewandtnis – hier gleich zwei 🇬🇧 Every Sign Has Its Purpose – Here, Make That Two #Photography #Sicily #Italy #OakmeadowPictures

You shall not pass" entgegenhält.
🇬🇧 On the green barred gate of Marinello campsite, two signs hang stacked: one with a cartoonishly exaggerated threat of violence ("Survivors will be shot again"), the other featuring a Gandalf lookalike declaring "You shall not pass" to uninvited visitors. Together they form a tongue-in-cheek escalation of politeness — from deadly seriousness to fantasy pathos, all just to keep strangers off the property.

'Im Museum' #FotoVorschlag 🇩🇪 „Im Museum ausgestellt, aber lieber draußen im Wind“ 🇬🇧 "On Display in the Museum – Preferably Outside in the Wind" #Photography #Belfast #Titanic #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 A bronze female figure balances with outstretched arms atop a rivet-studded steel plinth, set against the shimmering, faceted facade of Titanic Belfast. Her pose evokes a leap into the unknown – fitting for the fate of the ship this building commemorates.

Good Morning ☕🫖🥐Wishing you All a fantastic Day 💛🧡🤎 🇩🇪 "Eng befreundet, wie es der Zufall so wollte" 🇬🇧 "Best Friends, Purely by Coincidence" #Nature #Photography #Mushrooms #OakmeadowPictures

🇬🇧 A dense cluster of glossy, golden-yellow mushroom caps crowds together on decaying wood, likely Armillaria (honey fungus) or a close relative. The smooth, variously sized caps – some with a subtle central dimple – resemble a haphazard caramel-colored hill range.
