Reposted by Stephen Emma Monk @monkemma.bsky.social · 14/10/2026OK, there is something very, very weird going on in the press right now. It certainly appears, from the outside, as if certain people are being very much protected in a way that was not afforded to certain other people! Let's start with the facts around Lola Salem... 🧵1/ 331195656 1.2K
Stephen @o-kane.org · 16/10/2026Only cracked? Or badly smashed? If the former and still fully functional, I'd be trying to get another couple of years out of it. 100 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 08/10/2026I think it's time to attach the wooden piece to a wall beside my preferred drinking seat. It does reduce the flexibility of where I can drink beer from it somewhat 020 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 08/10/2026And I didn't realise a double existed, and that proves it is correct to pick up the glass, which is what I mostly do. Now you mention it, I do think I've heard that it meant to be held in a bracket on a carriage 010 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 08/10/2026On both accounts, yes. Tasty beer and I enjoy drinking out of it, but haven't used it anywhere near as much as I should. And I don't think it's just for Kwak - although that might get people's backs up 120 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 08/10/2026And if that's the case, no wonder you pick the glass up! But seriously, I understand there is no correct way, but I can't remember where I heard that 120 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 07/10/2026This type of opinion always reminds me of the Dead Kennedys' compilation album Give Me Convenience Or Give Me Death 000 0

Stephen @o-kane.org · 28/09/2026Never had a c64, but half way through listening to this now. It's pretty epic. Might have to get a c64 emulator and try to play this game. 011 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 19/09/2026You lucky git. I was even up in the Donegal last weekend and couldn't find Rustbucket on tap. And that included a few hours at the taproom! Had plenty of scraggy though 120 2

Stephen @o-kane.org · 16/09/2026Is the world just full of grifters? What happened to doing a honest day's work. Surely a result of capitalism and it's unforgiving nature 020 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 07/09/2026That 30% premium is the biggest problem. But despite the cost, the festival is always popular, so nothing will change on that front I suspect. Opening things up to competition doesn't always work... 121 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 07/09/2026Planners have done their best to ensure too many people need a car to get around. You can protest changing that, without being a hypocrite. 030 3
Stephen @o-kane.org · 07/09/2026I was arrested for a 10 minute Just Stop Oil protest walk in Central London. I don't own a car and use my bike and public transport as much as possible to get around. I don't judge people who are concerned about climate change, but do need to use a car - despite England's dense population 1/2 130 3

Stephen @o-kane.org · 04/09/2026I'm not sure there's actually any difference between the regular and this one. Not that I've tried the regular one since I first saw it many years ago. I'll not be trying the AF one 120 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 04/09/2026I actually just took this picture about 15 minutes before seeing this post. Probably about a quarter of a century old. Might dust it down and stick it in the fridge. Almost certainly undrinkable. But I'll do the sniff test anyway and see 120 2
Stephen @o-kane.org · 01/09/2026Well Fired from Loch Leven - Rauch Pale Ale. Very pleasant and in good condition at One Canon in Edinburgh. Lovely little pub with a top beer selection 010 1

Stephen @o-kane.org · 16/08/2026Most takeaway food is of disappointing quality. And usually very unhealthy. And too expensive. It's amazing how lazy people have become to be dependent on it 000 0

Stephen @o-kane.org · 07/08/2026You mean the fridge company is paying for a data connection using a sim card? Or you are? It's not communicating to the outside world for free surely? 110 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 04/08/2026Leaving this evening, so might find a chance to try it. I'll have a good look at that map 000 0
Stephen @o-kane.org · 04/08/2026Couldn't find it anywhere in Munich to do a comparison. But I didn't try too hard 100 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 03/08/2026Maybe both bottles were not about 6 months old, as I picked up a few more random bottles over the course of the next day or so, and none of them had a date beyond the end of January 27... Anyone know what dates they usually put on bottles in Munich? 101 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 03/08/2026Yeah, I'm pretty certain the nordie ones have had that flavour since I was a kid. Wouldn't be my favourite though. No pickled onion in the south? 110 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 02/08/2026Both bottles were about 6 months old, so not really ideal, and where simply bought in a local Edeka Express. The normal Helles didn't quite taste as good as I usually expect. Still good of course, but I had a much better Tegernsee Hell on draught earlier in the day. 010 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 02/08/2026There was a very slight difference in the color between the two, with the alcohol free being a smidge darker. The metallic taste associated with them was even noticeable in the aroma. 010 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 02/08/2026Another regular v alcohol free blind tasting today with Tegernsee Hell. Unlike the Augustiner one I did a few weeks ago, this was quite easy, and I was very confident in choosing between them. 341 4
Stephen @o-kane.org · 31/07/2026Naw, I use this every day, and it happens from time to time. No idea why, no rhyme or reason to it 010 1
Stephen @o-kane.org · 31/07/2026I should have also stated what it was! I got what it was from the context (beer blogs, including @akrennmair.bsky.social ), but didn't provide any at all 110 1
