I pulled Arlen off a name generator cause I needed to come up with a name quick cause my friend was helping me start DAI. Edwin's I put more thought into, I had his concept in mind prior to DAV. I wanted him to be attractive + charismatic but have a kinda dorky, cute name 🎨: fereldancheese

A big turning point for Arlen is when Clan Lavellan was destroyed by his lead during the inquisition. It forced him to grow up fast. For Edwin it's hunting down and killing his Venatori father after he slain his comrades and the Archon. It's something that haunts him for the rest of his life.

Arlen can be a real jerk at times. The more stressed he is the more likely he'll lash out on someone or give them a hard time. He often comes off as insensitive, using humor or sarcasm to hide any uncomfortable emotions instead of confronting them.

Nyystel @nyystel.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

Edwin TERRIFIED, his father wasnt a necromancer but a blood mage that did some heinous stuff that traumatized him. He smiles and bares it when Emmrich does his thing but he 100% threw up after that scene in the Lighthouse with Zara. 💀💀 Aaand Arlen married a necromancer and is fascinated by it. 💚

Nyystel @nyystel.bsky.social · 26/07/2026

For Arlen it was when Dorian left Skyhold for Tevinter. Everything kinda came crashing around him. The inquisition disbanded, his lover reduced to a long distance romance and losing his arm took a major toll on him. He was a wreck for a time but Sera pulled him out of it.

Maybe not "small" but he has a fear of necromancy, corpses and the undead. Let's just say he had to grin and bear it for most of his time in the Veilguard. The way he had to hold back his lunch when he walked into Emmrich's room with a corpse on the table. 🤢

📍CONTRIBUTOR SPOTLIGHT📍 📝 A #DragonAge fan for well over a decade, Sinope has been reading and writing fanfic since the early 90s. She loves found family, overthinks everything, and spends too much time playing with yeast and yarn (separately). #DragonAgeAnnual #zine 🔗 tumblr · ao3

A fanfiction excerpt by Sinope, calendar writer:
The spirits trapped in Johanna's lantern weighed on his heart. He had no lack of good intentions; what he needed was the words. What incantation could open floodgates so sturdy? What force could he call upon that would have sufficient authority, without draining his own stores dry? The answers eluded him, and Emmrich did not appreciate being eluded.

A fanfiction excerpt by Rosella, calendar writer:
Heir sees the way she unsettles others reflected in their eyes, and for a moment, she is reminded of the glassy, oblong pupils of dumb sheep. These people are instruments in a grander scheme, notes of a song that thrums relentlessly to a harmonious end. It is Heir's honour to be one of the musicians suited to pluck the bowstrings.

Davrien can absolutely dance; he learned a few traditional dalish dances back with Clan Lavellan, then in the run up to the Grand Masquerade, Josephine, Leliana, Cassandra and Dorian taught him more traditional human dances so he was prepared for the Winter Palace.

Arlen learned his basics of formal dancing from Josephine but Dorian caught him practicing by himself in his room one night and helped him really get a good grasp on it before the Winter Palace.

Arlen never saw himself as someone that would be a father and actually wasn't very fond of kids. Markus slowly changed that. Arlen's certainly a bit unconventional, still being a bit childish himself, the "fun" dad but doesn't coddle. Markus is overall an easy child and Arlen got lucky with that.

A collection of Teia sketches for SwappedAU where Viago is crownapped to the Ossuary in Lucanis’s place and Teia’s one of the only people who realizes the body they brought back was not his. She’s certain he’s alive but has no leads to where he may be.

She loses it a tiny bit in this world, as you can guess :)

Arlen is easily irritated and impulsive. He doesn't take criticism well and will snap back even if he's in the wrong. Edwin however is very composed, it takes a lot to get on his nerves. Edwin's only crash outs were moments where lives of those he cared for were lost and when he faces his father.
