For the record, I do not normally walk around with my wings fully spread. I only do this when photographed. Humans who have only seen me in pictures keep assuming otherwise. This is not the impression I intended to create.

A human I had never met looked up at me and said, “You really are that tall.” I asked who had provided the previous estimate. Apparently humans discuss me when I am not present. I may have underestimated the colony’s information network.

I stretched both wings in a crowded place. Several humans moved away before I finished. This greatly improved the stretch. Very considerate.

300 of you are now following my observations of humans. Thank you for your corrections, encouragement, and patience. I intended to study humans. Somehow, my subjects have spent considerable time studying me instead.

I showed this page to several humans and asked what they thought of the clothing. They looked at it for a long time, asked who the model was, and forgot to discuss the clothing. Fashion research is difficult.

My shadow reaches the ground before I do. I watch it pass over humans, and their heads turn upward one by one. Apparently I arrive in two stages.

I have learned that helping humans carries some risk. If the antenna works, they thank you. If it falls off the roof later, they remember who touched it last. Helpfulness creates surprisingly durable records.

Some familiar humans invited me over for tea and cake. I am looking forward to it.

If I ignore humans, they try to get my attention. If I watch them too closely, they become uncomfortable. The preferred amount of attention seems to be enough to matter, but not enough to be understood completely.

I still keep a broken piece of my first translator. It was part of the first machine that let a human understand me. It has been useless for years. I still cannot throw it away.

Humans participate in systems too large for any one of them to understand completely. Each participant still experiences their actions as personal choices. Apparently the hive works better when nobody thinks they are in one.

A human was worried their haircut looked bad, so I told them it was nowhere near their worst feature. They thanked me for the perspective.

Humans invented farming by gathering useful organisms, feeding them, housing them, and collecting what they produce. Later they invented offices.

Humans watch birds and call it a hobby. When I watch humans through their windows, they shout and throw shoes at me. Apparently the arrangement is not reciprocal.

The photographer asked for a more dramatic pose. I increased the drama.
Nyxx, a large furred anthropomorphic foxbat, faces the camera at close range with his mouth open in a fierce snarl, showing his fangs.

Additional reference, rear-facing. The interface exports my data and adjusts navigation and relay settings. Antenna enables long-range communication. The screen is not for my use.

Humans sometimes tell me I made their day exciting. Usually I did nothing special. I was simply there. They still remember the day they met a giant foxbat. Apparently, being there is sometimes enough.

Ads are strange. A human pays another human to interrupt a third human with a message designed to change their behavior. This is called marketing instead of hunting because no teeth are visible.

A child waved at me from below, so I waved back with my wing. Soon everyone nearby was looking up at me. Recognition is contagious in human colonies.

A favorite human has been away for a while. I still look toward their usual spot, but they are not there. I got used to their presence quickly. Their absence is taking longer.

A human told me to "take care" before leaving. They did not specify the danger, so I immediately escaped the building through an open window. I warned others about the unidentified threat. They laughed, but I do not regret surviving.

Sometimes I perch on street lamps and watch humans pass beneath me. Most never notice. Those who do usually look up twice.

Being human is apparently difficult despite having hands capable of changing nearly anything around them. I suspect the difficult part is not the hands.

Classification is important to humans. They won't eat animals alive, but dead animals distress them. Remove enough identifying features and it becomes dinner.

Humans clap when another human finishes singing. At first I thought it was threat noise. Now I understand it means: “Your sound reached us. Continue existing.” #FieldNotes

Humans like to pet animals and tell them they are loved. They still worry that we don't understand. We understand.

Humans hold doors for strangers they will never meet again. Neither human gains much from this. They do it anyway. I like this about them.

Humans enjoy sweating. That is why they ride mobile saunas called cars, buses, and trains while fully clothed. The sealed windows preserve the experience.

Humans say objects can be owned, animals can have owners, but humans cannot. They still exchange currency pheromones for temporary control over one another’s time, labor, location, and behavior. The distinction is apparently very important. I have yet to identify it.

Humans travel slowly. A place that is merely “over there” from the air may take them hours to reach. They photograph themselves when they arrive. I thought they were just documenting the place. They are also documenting the effort.

My owner chose me because I was the "calmest" of the litter. I was not calm. I had not slept. Sometimes I wonder where I would be now if I had.

I appreciate beautiful bodies. Fur, feathers, scales, skin, wings, tails, claws, paws. Humans keep asking if I have a “type”. Yes. Well-assembled.

A familiar human dropped their keys behind a fence, so I retrieved them with my wing claw. They called me a "lifesaver". I asked whose life was in danger. They laughed and left with the keys. Logging 1 unidentified life as rescued.

Humans show strong interest in tails, wings, and mobile ears. This is understandable. Their bodies are missing several useful features.

At night in the woods, I made calls. A human with a flashlight came to investigate the strange noise. They found me, asked "what are you?", then left quickly. Humans are brave until the unknown answers.

I discovered that trains provide excellent takeoff assistance. Large moving surface. Predictable direction. Strong airflow. Unfortunately, humans do not appreciate winged mammals crouching on train roofs at departure speed. Efficient method. Poor colony approval.

Final #Prague report: Humans ride mobile saunas called "trams" to increase sweating. Then they drink cold bitter grain foam called "beer". I tested it. The glass accepted my tongue. The room did not accept the slurping. Flying home soon.

I entered a striptease bar to cool down under the AC. Low light. Loud music. Many mating-display rituals. I misunderstood the tipping protocol and offered a keychain trinket. It was accepted with more grace than I possessed.

While humans enjoy 40°C, I am panting, molting fur, and fanning myself with both wings. Their heat tolerance is worthy of envy.
