Look at this, I bought #Atari Logo from a really cool guy in America, and he sent me two comics as well! What an awesome surprise!

Finally out on the Grom. The heat of the summer was too much, the drag of work overwhelming and the pull down on my bank balance out of control. Riding my awesome Grom makes it all get better.

New book day. 😌 I wish I still had my copies from when I was small. But this one will do very nicely.

While my #Atari computers are away being repaired, I'm digging into DeRe Atari. I'm not a programmer, hacker or anything remotely clever like that, but this book shows just how incredible the 400/800/600/800xls really are. Holy cow...

Today I wrote my first bit of assembly with books and original hardware. It took all afternoon for four lines, but i got it. All it does is turn the screen black. You asm guys are incredible #atari

Oh do it! Holy cow that would be awesome 😎 This is my lab right now (super understanding wife, soon as the kid moves out I get the bedroom as my 'real' home lab) My 800xl joins my 600 soon, then of course my 400 mini 2600+ already have a tiny shelf unit. I'm focused on basic...

Look at how beautiful my CX85 is. It's utterly pointless, but looks incredible. I'm trying to hack it into a project but being useless at programming, it's a bit of an issue. But will ya just look at it! #atari

... And can you believe it the keypad works. I just used the program from the field service manual (I'm not kidding) and it all tests out perfectly. What a day...

Hah! I'm starting to understand #logo! I have 2 turtles doing stuff, changing positions, pen colours, pen up, pen down, randoms and variables. Yes I need to find a more serious thing to do with it but turtles are fun! 🐢

#solaris install update. This is the third try. I think it's falling over because of the network so I'm doing it without installing anything networky. If I can get it to boot maybe I can add stuff later. Honestly this has taken far too much of the day already.

000

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 05/09/2026

Solaris included a c compiler?

000

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 05/09/2026

Doing a full install of #Solaris on an old laptop I found in the loft. It was ok ish running it in the VM but it felt so restrictive. I'm hoping a full install will be a lot better. But boy it's taken ages...

It's impossible to hate wasps when they are this beautiful. I have watering stations all over the garden with steps for the insects. Wasps are absolutely beautiful creatures, and vital for our survival. Look at those colours! #wildlife #wasps

Experimenting with .cas images. I have no idea what channel this little guy records on but it has a cool vu meter so I can check on the levels. If it's right channel, and the quality is ok we might be on to a winner.

Playing some Rescue on Fractalus on my #atari 400 mini. What a brilliant little console this is.

Another purchase for the collection. #atari CX 85 keypad. Absolutely pointless, but ridiculously cool. It's coming from 'murica soon God knows how long and how much I'll pay in fees, taxes and tariffs 😞

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 22/08/2026

Dug out my old cassette player on this #retro Saturday, as I'm going to use it with the 410. It's going to rewind for it and maybe, just maybe be able to create some .cas images for it... Now playing: Crosby, Stills and Nash. (Perfect)

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 21/08/2026

I have just bought the cleanest, most perfect example of an #Atari 410 I have ever seen since selling them in Silica Shop in the 80s. It's in absolutely pristine condition as if it was made yesterday. Needed new belts (too scared to do the rewind belt but that's fine) But not a single mark ❤️

My ultimate computer is the #Atari 800. I cannot see me getting one due to the cost, but its a beautiful thing and the best keyboard you have ever used.

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 19/08/2026

Thank you! I'm a few light years from assembly code yet, I understand lda and sta (I think) I made the background change colour! That's my limit but I have got my hands on an Action! Cartridge, I'm hoping it will bridge the gap until I understand assembly

While my #atari 800xl is heading back to the repair shop, the 2600+ is keeping my spirits up. If the heat allows, I'm going to chase some high scores on pacman and moon patrol today. You just watch me get interrupted by life...

Genius move. I bought mine new in the 80s and it's still working perfectly. I use it everyday. Best joystick I have ever had. This new one has a LOT to live up to, seriously.

So this is how my day ended up. Atari 800xl: formatting sorted, delete sorted. Solaris: formatting sorted, Change mode in EDT all over the place. Linux: Just works. Pdp11 on the pi: Absolute trooper just keeps on trucking. Need to do a backup tomorrow. I built a fortress of old computers today

A week of winning. Firstly my #Atari 800xl is fixed and working like new. Moon patrol on a Sunday is living the highest life. Second, I now have all the 2600 versions of pacman. Total win

Nyx [100,1] @nyx85.neocities.org · 08/08/2026

Progress! My #Atari 800xl is now able to log on to my pdp11 rsts/e emulator as a terminal. I can browse files, create files and write basic. I'm having trouble with (of all things) delete key. It sometimes sends weird characters and doesn't delete. I think it's a protocol issue
