The amazing views across the Solway Firth are a nice bonus to contributing to increasing our knowledge of what's happening with Greenhouse gases across Salt marshes @naturescot.bsky.social #Fridayfieldwork #Fieldwork #Saltmarsh #Greenhousegases #Scotland

It's always a privilege to spend time in some of Britain's most interesting landscapes, especially when they're occupied by colleagues like Gladys! #fieldwork #ukceh #countrysidesurvey #fridayfieldwork #fridayfieldworkphotodump

The survey covers nearly 600 1km squares across Great Britain, where we map habitats, record vegetation, analyse soils, and monitor streams and ponds. The data collected provides invaluable evidence for ecological research and helps inform environmental policy and decision making

Something I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to contribute to the variety of @ukceh.bsky.social surveys The Countryside Survey is my favourite, as I learn something new every time, see amazing habitats, and contribute to a project with a long history and real scientific value

Friday Fieldwork! Another great week of fieldwork for the @ukceh.bsky.social Countryside Survey. The highlight of the week was meeting my new colleague Gladys (Photo 1)! She kindly welcomed us to one of our plots and was particularly keen on supervising proceedings and receiving a fuss.

Thank you @ukceh.bsky.social! It's really nice to have contributed a small part to the Moor House story :) Here's looking forward to contributing more over the coming years.

Moor House-Upper Teesdale NNR is home to one of UKCEH's flagship long term monitoring sites, run by the dedicated @ukecn.bsky.social since 1992. ECN collects large amounts of data, covering weather patterns, rainfall and soil water chemistry, vegetation, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds and bats.

Friday fieldwork A sunny start to the week at Moor House for maintaining two of our @ukceh.bsky.social Peat Cameras. It's my first visit in the 10 years I've been at UKCEH; and well worth the wait! There's something special about seeing first hand a site I've heard fondly mentioned by my colleagues

Heathland Friday fieldwork! A trip to the lowland heaths of Cheshire last week, collecting more soil samples for @ukceh.bsky.social It'll be interesting to see what these samples show about how different habitats recover from excess Nitrogen deposition #fieldwork #heathlands #cheshire

Firstly to the upland moorlands of Wales, with an intense but worthwhile couple of days sampling. It's been a good chance to learn more about fieldwork; and looking forward to taking it forward to future site visits. #fieldwork #fridayfieldworkphotodump #ukceh #wales #moorland

Friday fieldwork from last week for @ukceh.bsky.social Whilst dodging the grim weather sample collecting, there were some nice breaks in the weather for some amazing scenery! Following on from Sand Dune sampling in January, it was onto moorland sampling this week

It'll be interesting to learn about how @ukceh.bsky.social Flux Towers can monitor how CO2 is both absorbed and emitted by the salt marsh, and how we can use this to monitor greenhouse gas changes #saltmarsh #fieldwork #fridayfieldwork #co2 #lancashire #ukceh

Fieldwork Friday! Another positive few days in the field working on some of our Flux Towers out on the salt marsh for @ukceh.bsky.social Definitely a change in habitat from peat bogs to salt marsh! One of the big positives of the job that I get to see all these fantastic habitats
