It is unsurprising that this mayor is ending his term by demonstrating, once again, that protecting and supporting working-class New Yorkers is not his priority. His vetoes put special interests above greater affordability and opportunity for hardworking New Yorkers, and public safety.
Graphic statement from NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams dated December 31, 2025, criticizing Mayor Adams’ vetoes of Council legislation and arguing they undermine affordability, public safety, accountability, and good government, while reaffirming the Council’s commitment to protecting working New Yorkers.

NYC’s affordability crisis does not fall equally on New Yorkers. Solutions to it by the next Mayor and Council must confront its underlying economic and racial inequities, because truly improving affordability requires advancing equity and justice.

New York just experienced the highest number of flu cases in a single week statewide. I encourage New Yorkers to take simple steps to protect one another: get your flu shot, wash hands often, cover coughs, wear a mask if you’re sick, and stay home when possible.
Blue and green graphic with the New York City Council seal at top left and a stethoscope illustration. Large text reads, “Stay Healthy. It’s Flu Season, NYC!” Smaller text says, “Keep yourself safe before you get sick.” A prompt at the bottom reads, “Swipe to discover simple ways to stay healthy and avoid illness.”
Blue and green informational graphic with three sections. Text reads, “Get Your Flu Shot,” followed by “A yearly flu shot is the first and most important action in reducing your risk of flu.” Next section reads, “Practice Good Hygiene,” with text about washing hands, cleaning frequently touched surfaces, and covering coughs and sneezes. Final section reads, “Seek Treatment,” advising visiting a doctor if you feel sick. Bottom text reads, “Learn more at cdc.gov/flu/prevention.”
