📚 Banned Books Week is Oct. 4–10. Writers should be free to write books. People should be free to decide what they read. Read a banned book. Support your library and local bookstore. Speak up for the freedom to read and write. Protect our freedoms. #BannedBooksWeek #NWUOregon @nwu.org

At Portland Community College for the WoW back-to-campus event, I took NWU Oregon Chair Marty Hart-Landsberg's advice and visited "Remember," a NW labor history mural. Celilo Falls, the 1934 dock strike, women welders, PCUN: a century of workers on one wall. ✊ @nwu.org

I felt the energy of the first week at Portland Community College’s Sylvania campus: a peek at my new classroom, my new badge, a stop at the library, and a walk around campus. Trees, gardens, birds, and all the little details waiting to inspire our writing this fall. #NatureInspiredWriting

Let’s celebrate National Voter Registration Day and a huge victory: the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s bid to restrict mail voting. 7 weeks to go. In The Fight We’re In, we need everyone, especially younger first-time voters, to register, make a plan to vote, and vote!

Happy Labor Day weekend from the National Writers Union Oregon Chapter! Labor Day is a good time to remember what working people have won by standing together: the eight-hour workday, weekends, safer workplaces, better wages and benefits, and the right to organize.

TGIF, Oregon writers! ✍️ The weekend is near. Time to put down the deadlines, step away from the screen, and maybe give yourself a little time to write, read, wander, or simply notice what’s around you. What are you doing to recharge this weekend? #NWUOregon #Writers #OregonWriters
