The problem with such a definitive remark is that admirable qualities in a person and the same person having serious flaws aren’t mutually exclusive but commonly inclusive in people.

Yes, to some extent. But the system‘s history and structure is morally and financially (global economics) corrupt so that I wouldn’t call it a democracy. Consider the predominant reaction of European states to the genocide in Gaza. Unethical and complicit.

History has to be charted not in broad sweeps (five years is a very long time in politics) but with specific yearly changes and cogent developments. America is the perfect crucible to study this. So I disagree that it is only an “intensification”.
