Stumbled on a copy of Natera: New Beginnings on our trip and decided to take a chance. I can see the Terraforming Mars DNA. You only get three workers, but playing cards as an action gets you lots of extra stuff. Really liked our first playthrough. #boardgames

Your 2 spare workers are supposed to go there. In practice, it just gets in the way. The manual claims you can store the gate assembled in the box, but we don’t see how.

Tried Estate: Raise the Realm tonight. I need to remember to buy my extra workers earlier next time. #boardgames

If you like that, you should give the sequel Orapa Space a go. The physical product is an improvement over Mine, with a magnetic board to create the puzzle. boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/44...

I tried to resist buying Abroad, but I’ve been enjoying it so much in alpha on BGA that I had to pick it up. #Boardgames

Played Ants again today but lost badly this time. #Boardgames

Played 3 Capstone games at the FLGS today: Ants (not pictured), Night at the Museum, and Falling. Ants is right in the Ark Nova/Terraforming Mars sweet spot, and Falling is a unique take on resource conversion, so we bought both of them. #boardgames

These new stores are a pale imitation of what TRU used to be. When I went to the 2 story one in the American Dream Mall, they had a Transformers wall, but it had dozens of copies of the same 4 figures. The stores are no-substance nostalgia bait.

Finally tried The Last Command today. It’s a more nuanced take on Star Realms. Once I got a handle on what mechanics are available, it’s pretty nifty. #boardgames

Propeller Islands is a fun, simple engine builder. Too bad it’s the usual Queen Games cheap-ass experience (tons of stickers, cheap card stock, etc. at full price). Doesn’t include extra bags or a storage solution of any kind despite having tons of cardboard bits. #Boardgames

Left my solo plays in for a change to fill out the grid. Game Makers and the Wondrous Creatures expansion both showed up this month. Looking forward to trying the games our FLGS brings back from Gen Con! #Boardgames

Seems like forever since @mo0.bsky.social backed this. Definitely easier to understand when it’s all in front of you rather than on BGA. Still not sure of the best strategy. #boardgames

Nuttyturnip @nuttyturnip.bsky.social · 04/07/2026

Also bought Kuzu’s Maze, which doesn’t have an entry on BGG. This is the easy layout, but normally you have a 5x5 grid which you flip over one at a time, trying to uncover all 5 flowers in order without going backwards or hitting a vine. Could scratch the same itch as A Gentle Rain. #boardgames

Bunny Kingdom Town will be fun to play on BGA, but I don’t need to own it. Blorp! was a weird puzzle, but drafting wasn’t great at 2. Not pictured are Rising Cultures (very dry) and Sanibel (cozy). #Boardgames

Lots of coast to coast action in today’s Free Ride. I still prefer the coin mechanic of the original, but it’s nice having a color coded map. #Boardgames

Wayfarer’s Tale was an impulse purchase, but I’m glad I got it. It’s a roll and write with lots of little bits, and I’m a sucker for a good insert. #boardgames

So the Montreal Canadiens had a really good anthem singer recently and I found a clip - YouTube decided it was in French and that I needed auto-dubbed English instead. It ended poorly (The singer is Eleonore Legace and the actual clip is here: youtu.be/Qs8IGWnuwoI?...)

Huh, that looks a little different from the one I got at PAXU. Mine has a notch on either side of the bottom row, rather than 2 on the left. Are the days of the week still along the top? Mine is on my desk at work and it’s a fun puzzle to start the day.
