I do love that it took them several years to add dark mode. They finally add it and it’s half baked. In 3 years one engineer will have an hour free to fix it and wait 2 months to actually get it merged and deployed.

Finally got myself a mini rack for my homelab and damn is this thing nice! Especially with some 3D printed mounts Next up: 2nd rack for compute 🧠
A photo of a homelab setup showing a, from left to right, UPS, NAS with a Mac mini sitting on top of it and finally a black mini rack with a bunch of networking equipment mounted in it

Does your Cloudflare Worker interact with the wider internet? msw.js has a new release which makes it easier than ever to mock HTTP, GraphQL and Websocket calls. We'd love your feedback. Give it a try and tell me what you think github.com/mswjs/cloudf...

Apple: “We need to verify you’re 18+” Me: “Urrrgghhh fine” Apple: “Your account is old enough, nevermind” Then what is the point of asking me??

I was saying this to someone the other day I really wish there was a proper integration system so package previews, AI reviews, changesets, etc all get grouped together and collapsible separate from actual user comments

Give them more anxiety by leaving crumbs of `unsafe` blocks everywhere

HTTP ESM imports are underrated imo

Revisiting Deno for the first time in a while and honestly I feel like more LLM's should be using it for one off scripts. Why don't they? 📄 One file for everything 📦 Import from npm & JSR using specifiers like `npm:` 🔒 Permissions required to access network, fs, etc

Spending some more time to learn how to build this the right way and learning Swift along the way. Swift sure is an interesting language and in some ways gets a lot of things right. In other ways it's very confusing.

Spent my bank holiday weekend building a proof-of-concept native iOS Bluesky client. Very early days but super fun to experiment with Swift (UI) and AT Proto

I did actually find this before as well and core of it is great! Though it doesn't really feel very seamless to use & is not idempotent for the key use-case of publishing a blog post. I may still give it a try, and if need be try and contribute some improvements to it.

This is super cool! It kind of makes me want to build an Astro integration that, on deployment, publishes my markdown content collections as @standard.site documents. As Tim put it: One source of truth, many views.

It is weird that it's not officially supported, but the official docs refer to an official Tangled Docker repo with a Compose stack that runs just fine (Though I did replace the image with Docker Hub instead of ATCR) tangled.org/tangled.org/...

Social media is, for better or for worse, a part of the modern world. It should be as open just like the modern web.

Okay I am actually loving finding all the new alternatives to everything! Twitter ➡️ Bluesky Instagram ➡️ Pinkleap Reddit ➡️ Nooki Discord ➡️ Colibri GitHub ➡️ Tangled DockerHub ➡️ ATCR npm ➡️ npmx

It does also make me think about what more of the modern social internet can & should be powered by AT Proto 🤔

And to that end, thanks to @mk.gg I'm now running my own PDS. So cool & nice to say I own my own social data

Honestly spending time over the past few days learning more about AT Proto I understand why it's so important and how cool it really is!

The @typescriptlang.org compiler API is an insanely powerful tool that few know exists or use. Likely because there is little to no documentation for it. But once you learn the basics it's actually amazing!

I knew buying a Mac Mini to be part of my homelab would be "interesting", but I never expected to have to be doing multiple system restarts until my reverse proxy container magically detects the local DNS record for my NAS.

Ben @nuro.dev · 15/08/2025
There's only one thing worse than DNS, and that's DNS on macOS.

I love having to take time out of my day to write emails to my MP to educate them on why age-gating or child-proofing the entire internet is a bad idea.

Wait, so to view “mature content” on Reddit in the UK I now need to give them a government ID or selfie proving I’m 18. But to view porn you can just click a “Yeah sure I’m totally 18” button??

I also took a moment to try out DurableObjects & I like the premise of them. But I seriously feel like I am communicating with the ether. I have no way to view or control state stored. Metrics to track usage ofc but apart from that you would need to build your own tools to manage state / storage?

Honestly, I feel you! The underlying product has SOOOOO much potential, but there feels like so many caveats, shoehorns & workarounds to the DX that half the time I find myself praising & the other half dreading using the platform
