I missed #makeaterriblecomicday2026 but I had these ideas I wanted to do about Factorio, and this was a great way to stop my need for it to be 'good enough' from preventing me from doing it at all. Technically I put too much effort into these so they're not terrible but it still counts!

Title: Always keep your turrets happy and healthy,
The engineer is placing a conveyor belt when they hears shooting. When they go to investigate, they find a turret has defeated a biter. They says "Good turret, have a repair pack". The turret whirrs in appreciation.

Title: I like catching trains mid-trip.
The engineer is running from a biter with angry eyebrows. The biter gets hit by a train and blasted in two. The engineer investigates, and there's a closeup shot of them thinking with their hand on their chin, and behind them are excerpts from the wiki and forums talking about how dangerous trains are if they hit you. Regardless, they hold out one hand to catch the next train going past and, in the last panel, is being pulled along at ludicrous speeds hanging on to the outside of the train.

Title: A poor workman blames his tools.
The engineer is standing at a assembler when alerts start popping up saying buildings are being damaged and destroyed. They stomp off to the nearby drone port to complain about the construction robots not doing their job, shouting "HEY! What are you fuckers doing? I thought I told you to-"
But when they look into the drone port, they find they've forgotten to put the repair packs in. The last panel shows them sitting on the ground, hugging a confused drone in each arm crying as they apologise for blaming them. "Oh nooo my babies I've failed you I'm so sorry."

Title: Logistics drone resupply.
The engineer stands outside the car, pointing at a construction drone. "Alright, I've got to head back for supplies. Maggie, you're in charge while I'm gone."
The drone does not understand as it does not speak english.
The car speeds back to base and the engineer steps out, arms spread wide, waiting. The last panel shows an army of logistics robots racing towards them at high speed to restock their supplies.

Very happy with this bit of code! I assumed like most other code I've done that I'd have to troubleshoot it a lot before it worked the way I intended, but this worked very well very quickly, bar a few mistakes like using object_exists instead of instance_exists, lol. Progress!
