Even the healthiest veggies need a helping hand sometimes. Don't worry, no chemicals involved (just oil, soap and water) - and spraying in the evening, as most beneficial insects aren't affected then.

Picking basil flowers today. They have a lovely aroma: very much basil, but a little sweeter and more floral. I love using them in ice cream, but they’re good anywhere you want just a little floral touch.

Yesterday was a rainy day (!) so I finally got around to pricking out the winter seedlings. And the little ones I thinned out became dinner: potatoes with tofu cream and “microgreens”, to use the fancy term. 😜 Very tasty, especially with the rain coming down outside.

Filling raised beds is simultaneously really boring as well as satisfying... Sweaty, dusty, and trying to keep out of the sun. But it is important to get the beds in the vegetable garden ready for the winter planting :-)

Well... that was a nice break... The next module of my diploma starts, so it's back to reading about wine every day until mid-October. The good news: "research" also involves opening quite a few pretty nice bottles from Australia to Portugal and everywhere in between from time to time.
